I'd really like to see WEST SIDE STORY, though I wish they'd use the film's version of "America" and switch around "Gee, Officer Krupke" and "Cool" around, like in the movie.
I've never seen the movie.
I read that Arthur Laurents hated the movie.
What??
Here's another James Snyder shot:
I would so pay to see James and Chris J. Hanke in a porn film.
"if I wanted to, I could create an Evita revival starring Stagey as Evita, Taz as Che, DGG as Peron's Mistress, and Jaily as Peron RIGHT NOW."
Do it, scott! When I was MBCotD, I was asked which role I desired to play on Broadway, and I said Eva. I think I can play a bitch convincingly.
I always felt that WSS movie was very similar to the play.
I love WWS. It's brilliant.
There's no reason an avid theatre-goer shouldn't see the movie.
Matty, did you ever have dinner?
Nope.
martyr.
I figure, why bother seeing a movie with different people's voices coming out of different actor's mouths, when I can see an original, true, live stage version, with one actor playing each complete role, singing, acting, and dancing.
I just find film in general to be deceiving. You can't see everything. It doesn't ring honest to me.
I have some dessert for him if he has!
Heh, how did I know that Austin and Robbie would want to be in on the act too? Anyway, you two are already set aside for my new 42nd Street revival to come in just before Tony time. Dorothy Brock and Peggy Sawyer, respectively. D2 can be Julian Marsh, if taking somethind that's touched me wouldn't burn his morally superior hands like acid.
many screen musicals are absolutely awful, I agree. It's a very tricky thing to translate a live show to film. There are howver some amazing exceptions.

I LOVE 42nd STREET!!!
I wanna be Billy Lawlor! But Peggy is pretty sweet as well!
I want dessert!
Scott, what about me?
taz, the WEST SIDE STORY movie is pretty much the same as the stage version, save for the changes I mentioned above. Even the costumes are the same to the original production, which baffles me as to why it won an Oscar for Best Costume. Oh, and "I Feel Pretty" is sung during the day in the film and not the night of the rumble, like in the musical.
Theatre isn't that honest, either.
Dorothy Brock?! Really?
I'm such an Anytime Annie.
If YOU'RE an Anytime Annie, what does that make Scott?!
Now take Cabaret. The movie is totally different. Brilliant in it's own right. And Fosse's best work, but it barely resembles the play.
This is when I know I don't know anything about musical theatre.
I like Cabaret - but it's hard for me to get through the whole thing. Like 'Sound Of Music'.

Sigh...I love Bob Fosse
I loved the CABARET revival, but I read the original production was a LOT less overtly sexual. I've never seen the movie.
This may be easier, what movies have you seen?
