Technically black screens don't actually use less electricity, but they're doing it to publicize the event, not for their own reduction purposes.

It's funny cause one thing the upperclassmen told us was not to get a mohawk. The faculty would rip us apart during evals. They even said not to dye hair.

I was going to the party, but all modes of transportation are none. So I'm in my room, while the guys next door to me have friends over and are being loud as ****. I'm to scared to walk out my room and be attacked by them, but I want to go get food!

When I was a kid, my dad wouldn't allow me to go to a barber/hairstylist. Instead, he'd cut my fair himself -- but only with scissors, no clippers. (He was very anti-technology.) Not surprisingly, my hair looked like sh!t. Then a miracle occurred: My parents divorced when I was 12 and suddenly I had the freedom to do a lot of things, including getting the haircut I wanted. So as a sign of rebellion (and to spite my dad), I shaved my head completely. Good times.
