Nearly every nominee is part of some deeply depressing film save Juno.

What makes me sad is that I doubt the movie will be mentioned or shown in any film package. Assuming the show goes on as usual.

The movie performed exceptionally well at the box office (inexplicably). Can't you be content with that?

well that's what really matters in the end to be sure.

And I agree matty, the films definitely reflect the mood of the country.

I am. I'll be the first to admit my suprise over how well the movie performed, and how widely it was acclaimed critically.

However it seems if a movie isn't at least nominated for an AA its as if it never existed. I love the movie - and no one elses opinion will change the way I feel, BUT, it is nice to see your favorite film get recognition.

I feel it should have been, and I know you cant honestly tell me it wasnt deserving of a few nominations.

Costumes, Make-up, Best Original Song.

Some of the nominees in those fields are just coasting on their film's critical responses.

I would have loved to see the cast sing on the telecast had they been nommed for song.

Taz: You think Jon McLaughlin will sing, if there's a ceremony? (I asked this a while back but never bothered to read the responses.)

I love HAIRSPRAY and it should've got something for the art design. Besides Nikki, I didn't think anyone was spectacular. Although, James did a lot better than I expected.

I will grudgingly admit that it should've garnered at least a Best Costume nod. At least.

For me, the stand-outs were Pfeiffer and Marsden.

I thought Marsden was a revelation. And I can (and do) listen to Queen sing "I Know Where I've Been" over and over again.

OMG, I never thought about McLaughlin singing. That would be freaking fantastic. I LOVE him.

Marsden was definitely impressive in Hairspray. Who knew he had such a great voice?

I'm looking forward to seeing the Hairspray cast on the SAG Awards. (Which is heating up to be THE award show of the season.)



They are nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.
