Pound Cake reminds me of Sammy hagar singing Pound Cake with Van Halen.
Give Me Some Of That Pound Cake.
Is it weird that I always feel guilty buying songs from iTunes that are in the Top 100 Most Downloaded list because I feel like I'm feeding the pathetic pool of bottom-feeders that is the current music industry?

I think the music industry would do just fine either way.
Stagey - I dunno - could be either way!
I buy songs that I like. It matters not to me if they are popular or obscure.

It is just whatever your preference is. If you like the song popular or obscure than buy it.
Just don't get it from Best Buy.
Why is that Stagey?
Geek: Bottom feeders?
Wow Roz. Im surprised Stagey didn't jump on that comment.
Yes. Most of today's artists are just swimmers in the cesspool of popular culture, riding through life on good looks, sex appeal, and mediocre music backed up by synthesized beats and synthesized vocals and songs that could've been generated by a computer or, worse, the songwriters on American Idol.
oh dear lord
*nods* I am, of course, being thoroughly hyperbolic but I always love trying on the snobby, extremist hat.
Geek: I don't think MOST artists are like that. That's a pretty bold statement. I just sw a Spoon concert a couple of months ago, and it was fantastic. In fact I could name quite a few groups whom I don't think are bottom feeders.
But then, I just read your statement saying you were being hyperbolic, so, haha, maybe I shouldn't take this too seriously.
mateo: Did I say something to be jumped on?
Like I said, I was exaggerating. But I will admit that I'm not particularly fond of most of today's very popular music. Some good stuff slips in now and then, though. I dunno that it's "today's artists" as much as "a lot of today's more popular artists".
Edit: And I just read YOUR statement, heh, so no worries. There are some more obscure artists nowadays that are very good, but they just don't get as much exposure as they should, y'know?
Yeah, I see what you mean. I guess I wouldn't see Spoon as obscure sing they've been around for so long, but they certainly don't get the exposure they deserve. But I've found even with popular music, I can be surprised and enjoy a good single every now and again.
But no, I get your point, for sure.
I just listened to three CD's in a row from today's popular artists and I hear not a single syth sound nor any obvious vocal editing.
Some music is just there for fun, I see nothing wrong with that. There's a time to blast Janis, but there's also time for a little Hilary Duff.
Hahaha. Hey, I was all bout 'Umbrella' for weeks. And back in her glory days, Britney's 'Toxic' was a fun single.
I totally danced around my room to Pussycat Dolls this morning.
Hey, I can get behind a little Pussycat Dolls every now and then and even Fergie's latest single gets me a little but there has never, ever been a time in my life for a little Hillary Duff. Never.
The one popular band that I will vouch for till the end is Panic! At The Disco. Love them.
I like me some Panic! Hey, do you listen to Daft Punk Geek? I think you might like them.
Daft Punk is all synths
Daft Punk is all kinds of awesome.
Agreed. They're fantastic. Their new live album is fantastic. I could dance all night to these guys.
