oooohhh, i like mateo's ideas better.
I'm terrible at gift giving ...
I love buying people things! I don't like to waste money on myself and avoid it when I can. Thus, I prefer to give than to receive.

Well, we knew that.
mateo, great ideas - way beyond my budget! StageyD, I don't like to give gift certificates except to family. Weird, but I don't like for people to know how much I've spent! If I had a larger budget, I'd do it.
If you don't mind- what is your budget?
Happy Halloween, all.
In regards to gift giving, I like to make cards for people. Or buy them those Quotable Quote magnets (depending on who the person is, of course).

I would need to keep it under $100.
Hey, PM! This is someone special, and it's a big birthday. Cards and Quotable Quote magnets won't cut it.
Well...
Rath is a frequent Hallmark shopper.
And NON-people, I should add.
hmm...
Does she drink?
a martini set? something like that...
She's more a wine girl.

Happy Hallowe'en, everyone.
I think I'll be utterly predictable and dress for the party as Sweeney Todd. Might as well.
Pass the blood, garcon.
Perhaps a Wine of the Month Club.
I'm not sure how pricey that can get.
Better post a pic, linnie.
That's why I prefer to make people stuff. Unless I'm in a dire need of something that's accessible and not so costly (i.e. magnets, etc). Usually I find that by taking the person's interests (whatever they may be) and incoporating them into the card helps. For example, a friend of mine enjoyed Johnny Depp movies so I made her a Christmas card featuring Jack Sparrow. Of course, seeing how it's a 'special someone' I'd be akin to getting a nicer present. I mean, even if it's a gift certificate to a day spa, a great restaraunt. As she likes to drink wine, maybe something to do with that.
I'm kind of stuck as I am presently getting goodies together for my best friend's 21st birthday party. Hopefully, I'll have a creative jolt of engery later on and come up with some better ideas for you.

Probably pretty pricey if it's any decent. And she knows a lot more about wine than I do (which isn't difficult). Maybe a really REALLY nice bottle of wine and some sort of classy wine accessory - whatever that might be?

Oh, and there's news! My dad was working today, surveying a house which turned out to belong to the Communications director of that pesky National Telecom, and he said he'd make sure Broadband coverage got extended to our house if my dad got him a good deal.

Chocolate Truffle & Wine Gift Basket?
That sounds cool...
Seconded. Gift baskets are really nice! And easy, too, because there's many options.

Its more cost effective if you make it yourself.. plus the extra savings can be spent on more goodies.
If you go into a nice Wine store or even a BevMo... they can help you pick out some nice Red. Then head over to a gourmet chocolate store and pick up some goodies.
You can pick up a basket at a Craft Store. But, it doesn't have to be a basket - any container will do... even a oblong ovenware dish would work... then she could use the container aswell.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA!!!!
My idea is still the best. Affordable and practical, yet special.
PM, who's in your av?
