So, on my trip home, my mother did something very peculiar. We talked about my sexuality when I was younger and she angrily dismissed it as a phase. Since I have dated men since, she assumed she was right. Anything that has come up about it again has been a really sore subject, so I practice the don't ask, don't tell thing. I figured I would approach it again when there is someone in my life that makes it necessary. Well, my brother's girlfriend has a 13 year old daughter. She thinks her daughter might be a lesbian and told my mother and me about it. I, of course, remained quiet. My mother said, "Well, just give her time. If she is, she is. You just have to love your kids no matter what. It may not be your choice for her, but she has to be who she is. If she grows to be a happy healthy adult, that's all that matters."
So, do you think my mother was just trying to be supportive of the girlfriend or was she saying something to me, as well? I have really been wondering.
Pretty pretty please don't you ever ever feel like you're less than
f**ckin' perfect!
