I agree about the humans, taz. Creepy.
It really is just an all around brilliant film. You should watch it actr.

You can tell I'm just an adjunct fan, though, because my favorite moment was added just for the movies - and it sends the Tolkien freaks over the moon.
But it's my favorite moment, and it has to do with romance, and if it wasn't there, I'd probably not like it as much as I do
Oh, sorry, taz. THE KING.
Actr, THE MIST is not really a horror movie. What's scary is the way people behave when faced with a situation that's literally between life and death. Kinda like LORD OF THE FLIES.
What scene Q? Between Aragorn and Arwen?

Well, DUH!
And obviously you get the disconnect, cause you knew JUST which scene I was talking about!
Honestly, I cry like a baby every time - and we've watched the entire series in a row a few times now.
We all resonate with what counts to us, I guess - and that gets me EVERY time.
I thought that was in the book. The more you know....
Is that from Reading Rainbow?
No, it was from those PSAs NBC used to do, and it featured current TV/film stars.

I will NOT go on any record with this - I haven't read the books. As I said, it's NOT my genre of choice.
But, I have heard that this is one of the CHEIF problems 'fans' have with the movies - this emphasis on the romance, and the created denoument included.
What do I know - I just know I cry when it happens

The only thing I miss about the books is that after they destroy the ring and go back to the Shire, Saruman (who does not fall off the tower and die as in the movie) has beaten them back and burns it to the ground. They of course kill him in a big battle before Frodo goes off with the elves.
Ohhh yeah. I knew it looked familiar.

That actually makes me laugh, as all I ever read is people complaining about how MANY endings there were (which I never 'got', by the way - I just accepted it as the course of the narrative.)
I can't imagine having something that impacting included in what was presented.
yea, it was too much, especially since Saruman wasn't the focus of the story. He was much more involved in the book, as was Wormtongue.
I, for one, think the script was perfect. all the edits and additions were necessary in translating it to the screen.
You have seen the extended editions, right?
Incidentally, taz, are you familiar with Leonard Nimoy's "The Legend of Bilbo Baggins"?

How do you find this stuff?
By browsing YouTube. I begin by searching for something specific and then sort of get led astray. Here's one with improved audio so you can better make out the inane lyrics:

But it's a fun song -- to sing and dance out!
Well, I'm single again gang.
Anyone want to be my rebound?
Oh Taz, I'm sorry.

Sorry, Taz
And to answer your question - yes, we watch the expanded versions.
I still wish the 'extras' included footage of Viggo's costume fitting

::snugs to Tazzy:: I'd offer to be your rebound, but I have the wrong equipment. You want me to try to contact Matt Damon?
Thanks guys. I'll be ok.
He's a super guy, it just didn't work out. I hope we can remain friends though.
You know, sometimes you just click better as friends than lovers.
Plus, with all the blessings in my life, when I put this all in perspective, it seems churlish to whine about it.
I'll be your rebound! Post-breakup is my favorite time to swoop in and snatch people up! (Of course, it helps when you cause the breakup yourself, but...)
Anyway, you're not doing this right! You're supposed to throw things and tell everyone what an asshole he was. Don't you know anything?
Turn on ABC Family right now and you can catch the tail end of "Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella" with Brandy, Whitney, and Bernadette. If that doesn't cheer you up then nothing will!
