re: Is That you In Your Avatar? - Swinging 20

I think if we actually picked up a real new person, I'd die of shock.

The Passing Strange Tony performance made me sad. I'd seen the show literally the night before and loved it, and could see why they picked the song they did, because in the context of the show it's absolutely electric, but on its own it was completely unbalanced (in more ways than one). I can't tell you how many times I've listened to the cast recording and gone, "This would have been SO much better on the Tonys!" Actually, I can, and it's less than seven, but probably more than three.

My sentiments exactly, mauri. Then again, I wasn't really paying attention to the performances. After a while, I became bored and switched back and forth between the Tonys and the Celtics/Lakers NBA Finals. I missed the last 45 minutes.

It just wasn't a number that translated well to the setting, or to being taken out of the context of the rest of the show. To be honest, I don't think Stew really cared. Considering his comments on musicals in general, I doubt the financial boost a broadly appealing performance on the Tonys could provide would really be that important to him.

First off, his name is Stew and that just bugs me. WTF?

When I finally make it to Broadway, my name is gonna be Chili.

Besides the performance itself, the whole "here's your keeeeeeeeeeey!" thing reminded me of Mimi. It seemed like a total RENT wannabe.

Speaking of performances, anyone else watching the opening ceremonies? It blows my mind how much freaking money they blew on this.

It's still going on. The spectacle is absolutely unbelievable, although the pacing is (as usual) a bit slow for my tastes. I'm having a hard time looking at it without a certain bias.

I recall liking the opening to the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics. I also remember a hush fell over the crowd as the American flag (the same one that flew at the base of the WTC) was carried down by several people, stretched and tattered. It was a moving experience.

I can never make myself care that much about the Winter Olympics for some reason. They just don't interest me that much. The Summer Olympics, on the other hand, are IT for me.

I guess I never really cared for water sports.

Did I just say that?

The only Olympics I got into were the 1994 Winter Games, and that's only because of the Tonya/Nancy thing.

Michael told me he loved me for the first time tonight.

While dancing to Kylie Minogue.

LOVE. IT.

(Michael is completely pissed off because our cab driver took us for a ride. Our usual fare is just over $9, and tonight's guy was $13. We gave him $6 and told him to **** off.)

If rhythmic gymnastics were a baby, I would step on its head's soft spot.
