I Don't Know... Maybe I'm Getting Hyperctitical Since I Turned 30 , but it just seems like SOS around here.

Every day there's Trivial Pursuit, Morning Chuckles, and Motivators.

People kvetch about men or about the fact that their Mother thinks they're really gay.

Appreciation Threads--What's Your Favorite Irish Lullaby Sung in Blackface--after a while, it's all the same thing.

[I fully understand that I started one or two of those Threads myself.]

But what happened to the good old days of fun and excitment--like when TheGaIsSilent attacked me and the whole Board because I sent him a PM regarding Boobs' Breast Cancer Site?

Is anyone on the same page as me on this one?

As Priest pointed out, the OT Board seems to have lost a little "something" lately.

[I fully understand that this is a subjective observation--and may be tempered by how long one has been a BWW Member and posted on the OT Board.]

I agree that the OT board is down a little lately, but it will come back soon.

With all due respect to you and your concerns--I agree with robbiej's thread that some of the issues you have posted here really need to be discussed with APPROPRIATE individuals--NOT with "laymen" on The Off-Topic Board of a Theater Message Board.

As I posted in robbie's thread, you could contact a counseling center in your center; discuss your issues with TRAINED personnel--and even get referrals--ALL in total anonyminity.

As a matter of fact, I used to Volunteer at a Counseling Center myself.

M_E-Douple posts can happen when you have a slow internet connection or when you accidently press the post button twice.

And I am sorry if any of my posts have offended you but I personally don't want to shell out all of my money on a shrink, who will just tell my life story to the world(where I live there is no such thing as privacy).

1) Your posts do not "offend" me--as I posted, I just don't find an Internet Message Board "staffed by 'lay' people" to be the proper venue for them.

2) As I also posted, EVERY area code in the country has FREE telephone counseling centers that will listen to your issues and make approrpiate referals. [If you'd like assistance in locating one in your area, please PM me.]

I find it a little hard to believe that a shrink in your community will "tell your life story to the world." [That's a very quick and easy way for them to loose their license.]

M_E-I have done the free phone therapy stuff and it helps.

I have many friends who have gone to see a shrink with real serious problems that no one knew about(rape, drugs, stds ect.) and when they have come out the entire town knows about it. That is why I do not trust local shrinks.
I believe that therapy is not the anzswer to all things but that discussion (with real people not just via BWW) is.

If the board bores you, liven it up! Start a new thread on something. A lot of us have formed 'groups' and just post on the Adam/Smoking/Angsting ect. threads, but it would be nice to see some of the old community again. Make a topic that will spark discussion, not just a poll or ____ Appreciation. People will post.

While I certainly appreciate your positive attitude, I believe the problem is contained within your very solution.

The members seem to have "split up" into various "groups" (The Smoking Thread, The Angst Thread, The Random Thread, etc.) and it seems that there is not a common ground of interest that MOST will post on.

Case in point: A thread today was started on Julie Harris--without question, one of the greatest American Actresses of our time.

It received a grand total of TEN posts--the vast majority of which came from the same two members.

Thanksy. I hope people try to talk... I guess I still have fun because I have a 'clique', but I know all about what it's like to not have a group. I don't want other people to feel that way, even if it's just a message board.

THANKS for your respectful input. I will respond to your concerns in the same manner--

1) The "Threadjacking" Incident regarding You and I--I just don't think its nice for two or more people to "take over" a Thread someone has started and use it for their own purposes.

IMO, if two or more people have a common interest that was not the original intent of the thread, I believe they should start a new thread or take it to Private Messaging. Maybe some of my posts regarding that incident were on the strong side, but I still believe my reasoning is sound and I believe you and I just have an honest difference of opinion on this particular topic.

2) You state there are 'many' reasons why others won't 'play' with me. As I don't know who they are or what their reasons might be, this is a issue I simply cannot address.

3) I do not believe I was "whining" about certain individuals forming their own groups--that point was made by another member long after my initial post. All I stated in my Initial Post in this Thread is that the OT Board seems to have lost the fun it once had. No where do I state that I was unhappy that people were not responding to my threads.
