Is it just me...?

Okay so I know it's not JUST me, cuz my friend thinks so too, in fact she brought it to my attention, but, with no offense to fans of the film, please don't hate me.... at the end of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory....when Wonka is looking at Charlie and he's all like, I'm paraphrasing here but just go with this for a minute, "It's yours Charlie, it's all yours, take it...I don't want it anymore". He just LOOKS like a pedophile! I know, I know, I know what you're gonna say..."how do you look like a pedophile?" But it's right there!!! He honestly LOOKS like a pedophile! The hat, the hair, the slightly stoned facial expression... It scares me! That is why, Craig, I must say... I am very frightened by your icon. Thank you and Goodnight.

i didn't know that you could tell a pedophile from any other person just by the way they look... WW actually reminds me of a neighbor of mine when i was growing up... he was a really nice guy...

Well, Craig is debatable, but I'd classify him more as a feisty minx than a pedophile. But I was never uncomfortable with Willy Wonka.

so, then it appears the answer to the original question is, "yes, it's just you" LOL!

maybe it's just me, but i find little or no humor in people who prey on the innocent and destroy lives. jokes about pedophilia do little more than lessen the horror that its effects have on its victims to outsiders, making their suffering into a punchline. like i said, maybe it's just me, but i have little tolerance for joking about people who abuse children.

First of all, I am in no way condoning those types of actions, nor am I defending Michael Jackson; but what kind of parent allows their child to spend the night at someone's house (unsupervised) just because that person is a celebrity?

If it were a parent or a family friend or even a stranger who kidnapped who did something that horrible to a child, I would feel terrible....and I do feel bad for any children that were allegedly abused by Jackson. But I blame the parents more than I blame him.

Sadly Papa, I don't take it as an insult. I have been told many times I should go into politics.
It was immature of me to stoop to you level. Whereas you might not have been name calling, you were still maliciously attacking me today. You could have gotten your points across without picking me out of the bunch and making me your target for the day.
You're right. I should not have lowered myself to name-calling, because truthfully that's not usually my style; but what's done is done and I can't change that. Next time I'll do what I should have done to begin with and just ignore your posts.

If I ever knew TB was a Republican, I guess I forgot. I can't believe the sugar-coated response I gave to the "homeless guy with a mansion" myth that TB didn't believe but thought "it's possible." Sigh. Alas, pap, that IS the kind of politics that sells in this era... and I wonder if the people who told TB to go into politics meant it as an insult?

Alright, it's all a matter of opinion. Don't keep jumping on TB, papa. Honestly, I'm friends with her and she's an amazing and caring young woman. It may come off to you otherwise in her recent posts, but knowing her sense of humor and how it could be misconstrued, I can see how you wouldn't think so.

It's the same thing all the time -- we're not going to all agree, but what's the point of fighting over something miniscule?
