Nerds are rampant sex machines…

By Tim Richardson

Published Wednesday 18th April 2001 11:59 GMT

"Adult male nerds have sex more often than ordinary American blokes according to IT recruitment site JustTechJobs.com.

Following a survey of more than 7,500 male nerds it concluded that this often-maligned group has sex 108 times a year compared to the average of just 79 times..."

Hah.

Haha.

The real question is how are we defining nerd?

I think the number of collectable action figures you own (that are in mint condition boxes of course) defines your nerdy-ness level.
Yeah, for sure.

Honey, I don't produce theater. I am theater.

Highly believable and conceivable. Now I can confirm...I am NOT a nerd.

Why action figures? I admit I had a Ninja Turtle in my day, but doesn't, say, an unhealthy Sondheim obsession qualify one for nerdhood?

No, that just makes you a theatre geek.

You know, the kind that wear the shirts to the shows and make things for their favorite star. It's ADORABLE. I LOVE theatre geeks. LOVE 'EM! But yeah...there is a distinct difference between just your average "nerd" and the one and only THEATRE GEEK.

Nano-nano.

I think the science/computer nerd has lost a lot of its nerdom.

The sci-fi/comic book/Star Wars/LOTR nerd has become the nerd gold standard.

Webster’s Online defines “nerd” as:

Main Entry: nerd
Pronunciation: 'n&rd
Function: noun
Etymology: perhaps from nerd, a creature in the children's book If I Ran the Zoo (1950) by Dr. Seuss (Theodor Geisel)
: an unstylish, unattractive, or socially inept person; especially : one slavishly devoted to intellectual or academic pursuits
- nerd•ish /'n&r-dish/ adjective
- nerdy /-dE/ adjective

The Gay Dictionary defines “nerd” as:

nerd:
1950's]noun.U.S. 1950's. An intelligent, often socially inept person.

That is immediately followed by:

net-head:
[1990's]noun. A person obsessed with using the internet. ["Eric was a net-head, didn't want sex with me, but would have cybersex with the computer.]

Have yesterday’s nerds become today’s net-heads?
Can one be a “net-head nerd”?
Do nerds have more fun?

These and other burning questions can be found in this exciting new thread…"Is it still true about Newds?"

HAHA, I don't think I've ever heard anyone use the term "net-head" in real life.
