"I've got something tough to tell you. Uh, I'm fabulous, okay? I'm an incredible dresser, I've got buckets of money, I'm a hoot and a half, and I've got a killer rack. Do you get what I'm saying?"

re: '¡No pare, sigue, sigue!' Feb 21 2008, 09:58:58 PM
I understand all of that, my confusion was as to why one verb was an Ud. command ("No pare") and one was a "tu" command("sigue"). However, that assumes they are both true commands (I figured so because of the context) and not just part of an idiomatic expresion, in which case anything goes!
?format=auto&width=600 What javero was saying also makes sense, but I guess I wasn't expecting to see it on the shirts since the s-dropping is a spoken nuance, and it's not universal.

Thanks, all. I didn't think anything of it when I heard the expresion spoken and sung in the show, as "pare" and "sigue" slur together regardless of whether there's an "s" or not. It was when I saw the phrase printed on the t-shirts that I started thinking about the grammar of it. *nerd*

"¡No pare, sigue, sigue!" Feb 21 2008, 04:07:18 PM
I saw IN THE HEIGHTS last night and ADORED it, but I have a question about the tagline.
Isn't the correct command -if we're sticking with "tu"- "¡No pares, sigue, sigue!" ? Or, perhaps, "¡No pare, siga, siga!" if we're dealing with "Ud."? Or is "¡No pare, sigue, sigue!" just a colloquial expression?
I know this is nit-picky, but I was curious...

Leaving SALTIMBANCO (one of Cirque du Soleil's touring shows) last night: Man: That was good! You know, I think Cirque du Soleil has another show... Woman: Oh really? There are two? I wonder what the other one's like! (Inlcuding both resident and touring shows, Cirque has 14 currently playing productions)

re: CORPORATE WHORE - Susan Blackwell Love Thread Dec 8 2006, 12:09:24 PM
I saw her last night at the High Fideity opening! I didn't realize it was her until afterward though. I remember walking by and thinking, "That looks like Susan Blackwell..." Now I wish I would've gone over and talked to her.

It goes to b'way in December after it's run in Boston. I've never seen the movie however, so I couldn't tell you if they're bastardizing it or not, Spidey! I'll have to watch it now...

I like this: "Jimmy Fallon is going to play as..." and "We interviewed him and this is what he said:" If you're going to fake a press release, as least phrase it to sound somewhat professional.
