A Live action version remake of Fantasia with Nicholas Cage as the Sorcerer's Apprentice instead of Mickey Mouse
Armageddon has arrived.It happen 7/2010
We are not into self abuse.
This will however become a valued part of my ever growing bad movie collection when it makes it to video.
Some of my favorites are:
The Oscar
The Terror Of Tiny Town
Myra Breckenridge
Robot Monster
Cat Women On The Moon
Attack Of The 50 Foot Woman
The Thing With 2 Heads
Frogs
Glad to know you buy movies you don't want to see.
As for the self abuse, you guys should try it. It's surprisingly fun sometimes.
Thanks but no
Having a love of bad movies is akin to loving fine wine. You have to savor the sheer awfulness in a movie at home with a fine wine. How else could you immerse yourself in the sheer awfulness of The Oscar.
There's toys you two could buy to help to have more fun. There's a store that I like down in the Village right next to the Lortel Theatre. A lot of the stuff there might look like it's only intended for guys to use but luckily women can have a lot of fun with them, too. Next time you guys see a show there you should pop in and check it out. There's also Kim's video down the street where I'm sure you could get a bad movie to rent if the batteries run out.
And I thought Johnny Depp as Carol Channing was a bizarre idea. This takes the cake.
No need for batteries or Viagra good & kind sir. Thanks for the thoughtfulness however.

A little clarification, for what it's worth.
It's not a live action version of all of FANTASIA, just a fleshing out of "The Sorcerer's Apprentice." There will be no live hippos dancing with crocs, or CGI Centaurs.
And Nicholas is actually playing the sorcerer, not the apprentice (Mickey Mouse in the short version that's a PART of FANTASIA.)

You should know by your age to not knock something until you see it! It could turn out to be brilliant!
They're not remaking Fantasia. It's a knockoff of the Sorcerer's Apprentice sequence only. Not that that makes it any better, but you know.
At least Roxy hasn't (at least as far as I know) seen Plan 9 From Outer Space.
Now, talk about self torture. That was a movie that was so bad to the point that it became comical. Still though, the one thing that irks me to know end in that movie is that it is an almost constant tennis match between a frame being in the night and a frame being in the day. You think that Ed Wood would have been able to understand the concept of time while filming.
1) This project has been on the table for the past five years. Is it ACTUALLY green-lit now?? Where is the updated news coming from?
2) Nicolas Cage is playing "Yensid" the sorcerer, NOT the apprentice (the Mickey Mouse role which will, in the live-action film, be played by a young boy).
3) This just SCREAMS horrible idea, and when I first heard about this all those years ago, I thought it was a joke. The project was supposed to replace what was supposed to be Disney's 50th animated feature-length film -- where at least one character from all previous 49 feature films take part, in addition to Mickey Mouse and the Fab 5. That idea had been scrapped when CGI-animation took over and Disney said they were going to stop traditional hand-drawn animation. [THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG is Disney's 49th animated feature film. The Pixar collaborations do not count, and neither do the half live-action/half animated nor the straight-to-dvd sequels.]
Cannot is one word.

It would be two words. Because it actually can get worse than this. Give Roxy a few days.
They could cast Haley Joel Osmoet as the apprentice
Are the brooms going to be real life brooms that get arms with a magic spell? If so, I'm totally interested.
And I'm sad that they aren't doing the entire "Fantasia" movie. What could be better than the beginning where it's just a bunch of patterns to music? Oh yeah, and then you get the naked fairies. I would like to see a live action "Dance of the Hours" with hippos, elephants, ostriches on pointe, and alligators.
Old news as I think they're just about done shooting (they shot a lot of scenes near my apt.
The story dates back to 1797 - LONG LONG LONG before Disney ever touched it. And the story, from what I can tell (the film) has nothing to do with the Fantasia segment.
So no - it's not a knockoff, remake or anything of the like. It's a movie on its own which is rooted in the poem written by goethe.
Yes, it has finished shooting. I worked on it in March. It is actually based on the Fantasia segment, but is its own story.
Exactly, Craig. Disney didn't create the story. It's centuries old, like a lot of their fairy tale films (i.e. SNOW WHITE, CINDERELLA, SLEEPING BEAUTY). It would be like saying Burton was remaking Disney's ALICE IN WONDERLAND.
Not to mention the Disney sequence in Fantasia was based on the Dukas 1897 musical composition inspired by Goethe's story. The only original contribution made by Disney was the animation.
I'm curious to see it actually. I like Nicholas Cage even when he's slumming, which is always.
It has potential to be either fantastic or awful, but I doubt that it will be boring.
