The fundies and freaks are going to try to muck with same-sex partner benefits in Michigan.
It's only going to balloon from here, boys.

I seem to recall similar statements coming from people in the South in the late 1850's...

Posted: 11/4/04 at 2:13pmI think that things may progress to the point where someone gets a gun. Let me clarify: someone who's rights are being curtailed gets a gun and takes out said curtailing party with a few well-placed shots. People are that volatile about all this stuff, Rodney. You can make light of it, and scorn it, all you want -- but it might not turn out to be that funny.

Oh, Rodney can't take the heat at all. Since the lovely, vacant eyed headshot I put up as my icon earlier has mysteriously vanished, I can only assume that Ericrodney, the first to claim his first amendment rights are being violated when somebody points out that what he has written is racist, classist stupidity, went all tattle tail to the moderators.
Boohoohoo.

I merely commented that if we degrade to a point where there are Gay states and non-Gay states, we're heading to another Civil War. I say that not as a joke, but as an observation that we COULD be at the beginning of that road and none of us want that.
Then Curtain called me an unpleasant name, so I retorted.

Posted: 11/4/04 at 2:20pmI love the image -- a gay civil war! The uniforms would be fabulous. Screaming drag queens stealing in the dark of night into unsuspecting little burgs, doing makeovers on everyone they deem worthy. Those that aren't deemed worthy are sent to a POW camp behind the gay lines, where they are not released until they can quote the Sweeney Todd libretto verbatim.

Actually, it's an image that David Drake invoked toward the end of "The Night Larry Kramer Kissed Me," one that seemed quaintly outdated in a few short years. Doesn't seem so outdated now.

Posted: 11/4/04 at 2:23pmYeah... he complained about my "We're All F*cked" headline icon as well. And apparently da baby didn't like being called an a**wipe in a previous post either. He can dish it out (and not very well I might add), but he sure can't take it.

Anything Bush said in his 2000 campaign is moot. He also spoke against nation-building and talked about speeding up the immigration process.
Think about that folks.
HA!
Anyway...it's incredibly sad that first race, and now sexual orientation, are subject to so much bigotry that it may require over-exertion of the judicial branch of government to fix things.
The Civil War and the civil rights movement both really changed the nature of Constitutional law and the judicial branch, and often not for the better. But for social justice, a lot of it had to be done. I really hope that this time around, things can change without activist judges having to do it. I can't take the bigtory.

Is here BWW or America?
Cross-sections are horribly inaccurate.
