It's such a wonderful song: wistful, hopeful, happy and melancholy, all at the same time.
It's autumn in New York
That brings the promise of new love.
But Autumn in New York
Is often mingled with pain.
It's cold and rainy here today, DG, and it feels just like Ella's version of that song.

Hey, when DO the leaves actually start to turn colors and fall off in New York? Isn't it more like late-October??
I've lived in Los Angeles too long... the "Land of One Perpetual Season," so I forget. It's all one big, long, endless season out here... forever.
The seasonal changes are a great way of marking time. I don't miss freezing my ass off through winter, though!

Posted: 9/2/06 at 9:10pmIt's funny here at the Jersey Shore. It's packed because it's Labor Day Weekend, but no one is doing the normal activities. The diners are packed. The video stores are packed. The ice cream places and boardwalks are empty. It was perfect fall napping weather today.

It's hotter than, er, well, you know where here in the Tampa area. I'm a transplant from Maine, and I will miss the fall foliage this time of year.

I love living in NY. We get a little bit of each season and we all look forward to the coming season. Like in May we were so ready for the heat and beach, now we're looking forward to going apple picking out east, well at least the elderly are.
