That's not a "democratic belief!" Have you seen how many Democrats have been lobbying against it in Massachusetts?

It's more Democratic than Republican.

But I guess that can be debateable. Updated On: 2/15/04 at 05:37 PM

ummm.... did i not just say that i'm a catholic? and though i said not conservative republican, i do have mostly republican views. i was self-effacing. i'm sorry i offended you. it happens, love. send me nasty pm's! i love controversy, and i will gladly take any criticizms. but you're right, that comment was a bit much.

as a straight man, i am personally offended by all the gay comments on this site.....

oh wait.....hmmm.....

Nasty PMs?! I don't do!

:)

What I just want to prove is that you can't say 'GW followers' 'loser' conservative republicans' and throw that label on one party, because there are too many people who have differing opinions. Even though I am a Republican, there are some Democrats who I respect because they work hard and truly believe in what they do without being obnoxious about it. Sure, I don't agree with what they say, but I can respect some of them. I just find it maddening to throw a label on a single party.

"and sometimes, it's just fun to piss off [r]ick [a]nd [plm]ambo"

lord, child, what on earth would give you the idea that your juvenile rantings could manage to do anything other than make me giggle? i'm not gonna speak for rick as i'm sure that his take on the subject will be one for the ages, but i am certain that you must have scabs on the top of your head from all the stuff that flies right past.

scabs galore. and i can too post opinions that differ with other peoples, lg. i just did. it happened. woohoo! and if we don't state our opinions, what fun is discussing an issue? i feel that i was very respectful of rick, in admiring his faith in the government, which i could never hope to achieve. i appologized for a comment that was never directed at you. what more do you want? and papa, i know i can't piss you off. why would you pay attention to a minor annoyance like me? gosh, even namo's ignoring me! have a wonderful happy day everyone! and don't get so serious! we're not gonna solve the worlds problems on a broadway site. its just fun to discuss and see what other people think!

hooray for shallow thinking, and i think this scab business is going a little too far. i seem to remember this as a forum for discussing homosexuality, not blood clots. ah the bliss of being young and thinking i know everything. be grateful, for i'm sure i'm providing you with much material to laugh at and ridicule. and lady guenivere, about the catholic thing. try going to DignityUSA's website. it focuses on homosexuality and the catholic church and is very informative and comforting. at least it was for me. happy president's day!

LESSON OF THE DAY FOR CHOIRBOY

sar·casm [ sr kàzzəm ]

noun

cutting language: remarks that mean the opposite of what they seem to say and are intended to mock or deride

[Mid-16th century. Via French from, ultimately, Greek sarkazein “to tear flesh,” from sarx “flesh” (source of English sarcoma and sarcophagus).]

This is where he does the, "excuse me I did not know this was a dictionary site as far as I can tell it's a thread about blah blah blah" thing. I just feel bad when anybody tries to engage with him because he has said many times he writes things he does not mean. So, really, what's the point?

FYI... The computer can be used to look up words you don't understand. Or for that matter to check spelling.

why am i finding that people are very adament about spelling? as long as it's not vulgarly deliberate (b4, u, ur, etc...) i see no problem with mispelling occasionally. if you all can understand what someone has written, i really don't see what all the fuss is about. i do think that names should be spelled correctly, and i admit to doing that a few times. but i'm just a casual observer, and i will slink back into my little corner where i can take people seriously and misspell at random and state my offensive, yet self-effacing opinions, and laugh at namo's amusing posts.

shh... i'm in my happy bubble.....

I think I can help you out there-There are some people who still value the correct use of the English language in spelling, vocabulary and grammar. I notice that as time passes, the mistakes in these areas are disturbingly ubiquitous in advertising, television (did you ever watch close captioning?) and in mispronunciations by the President.

I'm one of those people who are bothered by it. Why? because it symbolizes a lot more than an innocent 'spelling error'.

Whew! end of rant.

i really respect that. i, too, am frustrated by the new usage of x's and z's where they don't belong. and i do understand your dismay at the deterioration of the english language. lately i've noticed how everyone seems to use double negatives (i don't do no pot) and the startling absence of adverbs in every day conversation ("you rant good" as opposed to "you rant well"). really, my tiff with the whole spelling thing is that spelling has never been my strongest suite, tux, or sport jacket. so i still hold firm that spelling is nice, but its the message that really counts.

Bad grammar, punctuation and spelling lessen the impact of what is said. Put simply, if you are careless with your words, why should anyone else take them seriously?
