That's not a "democratic belief!" Have you seen how many Democrats have been lobbying against it in Massachusetts?

It's more Democratic than Republican.
But I guess that can be debateable.

ummm.... did i not just say that i'm a catholic? and though i said not conservative republican, i do have mostly republican views. i was self-effacing. i'm sorry i offended you. it happens, love. send me nasty pm's! i love controversy, and i will gladly take any criticizms. but you're right, that comment was a bit much.
as a straight man, i am personally offended by all the gay comments on this site.....
oh wait.....hmmm.....

Nasty PMs?! I don't do!
:)
What I just want to prove is that you can't say 'GW followers' 'loser' conservative republicans' and throw that label on one party, because there are too many people who have differing opinions. Even though I am a Republican, there are some Democrats who I respect because they work hard and truly believe in what they do without being obnoxious about it. Sure, I don't agree with what they say, but I can respect some of them. I just find it maddening to throw a label on a single party.

lord, child, what on earth would give you the idea that your juvenile rantings could manage to do anything other than make me giggle? i'm not gonna speak for rick as i'm sure that his take on the subject will be one for the ages, but i am certain that you must have scabs on the top of your head from all the stuff that flies right past.

Sorry if you saw it like that.

Not really, no. You're not even interesting on that level... you're just a poseur.

I just feel bad when anybody tries to engage with him because he has said many times he writes things he does not mean. So, really, what's the point?

why am i finding that people are very adament about spelling? as long as it's not vulgarly deliberate (b4, u, ur, etc...) i see no problem with mispelling occasionally. if you all can understand what someone has written, i really don't see what all the fuss is about. i do think that names should be spelled correctly, and i admit to doing that a few times. but i'm just a casual observer, and i will slink back into my little corner where i can take people seriously and misspell at random and state my offensive, yet self-effacing opinions, and laugh at namo's amusing posts.
shh... i'm in my happy bubble.....

I think I can help you out there-There are some people who still value the correct use of the English language in spelling, vocabulary and grammar. I notice that as time passes, the mistakes in these areas are disturbingly ubiquitous in advertising, television (did you ever watch close captioning?) and in mispronunciations by the President.
I'm one of those people who are bothered by it. Why? because it symbolizes a lot more than an innocent 'spelling error'.
Whew! end of rant.

Posted: 2/16/04 at 10:37pmi really respect that. i, too, am frustrated by the new usage of x's and z's where they don't belong. and i do understand your dismay at the deterioration of the english language. lately i've noticed how everyone seems to use double negatives (i don't do no pot) and the startling absence of adverbs in every day conversation ("you rant good" as opposed to "you rant well"). really, my tiff with the whole spelling thing is that spelling has never been my strongest suite, tux, or sport jacket. so i still hold firm that spelling is nice, but its the message that really counts.

Bad grammar, punctuation and spelling lessen the impact of what is said. Put simply, if you are careless with your words, why should anyone else take them seriously?
