Truly... we usually get dinner and a gift certificate. Last year was $50 to a restaurant. But this year hasn't been great financially, so I think we're only getting lunch. Still nice, though.
Still nice. Absolutely. Hope they take you someplace nice!
ElTico, is that the sheet you sent me? (In Cookie's post)?
No, actually. I made one up myself... it's color coded, and has lists of do's and dont's for each section (gua), and some remedies. It's something I did for myself when I was first decorating my apt. But the basis of it is the same.
It's the octagram that is the basis for feng shui... the base goes where the entry to the room you're analyzing
The one I did is basically a square... the octagram would fit into it, it's just for people like me (since I made it) that has a hard time visualizing a rectangular apt. in an octagram.
Also, the book I based it on denotes the center as the "health" gua. I also have the elements that go with each gua.
Well thanks to both of you for all the info!
I am embarking on a renovation/decorating experience, so will pay close attention to the teachings of feng shui. (Is that correct - teachings? Or theories? Or practices?)
Hm... I would say practices. The way I've seen it described is the (and I'm paraphrasing) the art of placing objects in your home to enhance the positive flow of chi. (energy)
in a sane manner, though... Feng shui practices in places like Hong Kong dictate real estate pricing... For example, the Bank of China building is reported to have AWFUL feng shui...
"The design, based on triangles, is not favoured because a triangle resembles a pyramid and kam te chap, the Cantonese phrase for pyramid, is similar to kam chap — the urns used for keeping the remains of the dead. Further, say the experts, the sharp corners are like daggers: some appear to point inwards, while one points at Hong Kong's Legislative Council Building, and another at Government House (British writer Simon Winchester likened the bank to `a dagger aimed at the heart of British rule'). Then, the two `chopsticks' on top of the building point upwards, like incense sticks used as a memorial to the dead."
Interesting that the egyptians buried their dead in... pyramids!
and the fact that triangles are very stable structures...
I'm seeking a panel of judges for a "Survivor" challenge. Your task as a judge will be to read a small selection of "fan fiction" stories written by BWW members, and rate them on 3 factors. (Quality, Creativity, Relevance).
If you want to do this, I'd like your participation to fall between 8 pm EDT tonight and 1 pm EDT tomorrow.
Is anyone interested? Pleeeeeeeease?

Sometimes you can tell that the judge knows that the witness is lying! Today he all but posted his feelings on a message board!!!
Huh?
ck, I'll be happy to help.
Yay for blood oranges.
So, I need triangles in my decorating? (VERY interesting feng shui info - thank you!)
and, I am so starving! I need to eat lunch, but I'm sort of afraid to.

I had changed the title. I was in Court this morning and the witness was lying so bad that she lied about her previous testimony. She is a lying liar.
Undi and BWS - how are you? Do you all have the flu too?
Just trying to smoke out one of my favorite lurkers with a little Heath bar.
And I am better now, Lywr. Thanks for asking. 12 hours of sleep can do that for you...
So far I have two judges for the fan fiction contest in my 'Survivor' game. I just read one of the entries, and it is fabulous. Incredibly entertaining!
I'd like 1 or 2 more people.
If you are going to be around between 8 pm tonight and 1 pm tomorrow, I'd love you to join me.
All you have to do is read a few short stories and give me a 1 to 10 rating on 3 elements. Your ratings and comments will be anonymous. (Via PM to me!)
Come on, join me.

I am getting killed with seasonal hayfever (not Noel Coward), but I am used to it.
oh, Lwyr, I know the feeling. What is the medical term for hayfever? Is it rhinitis? I forget, but I remember being diagnosed with it for the first time and thinking, "huh? What is THAT?"
The medical term sounds so much more serious.
