Do we know why he shaved his head, other than to divide worldwide opinion? Is this for the famous "Brokeback Mountain"?

he shaved his head for the movie Jarhead. I'm not sure but i think it is based on the book by the same name, which i surprisingly could not put down. i bought the book because my brother is a marine and i wanted to read a book written by a marine at the time of the gulf war, and i love biographies, and it was really interesting....then when Jake presented at the Independent Spirit Awards, they announced him as "from the upcoming film Jarhead...Jake Gyllenhaal" and i nearly wet myself.

love me some jake. saw him live in this is our youth in london. sooo good. sooo yummy.

The movie is indeed based on the book.

Jake and I were reading it aloud to each other just a few nights ago. He loves to read to me.

Speaking of Brokeback Mountain. Any word on when it's being released? A gay cowboy movie with Jake Gyllenhaal! Can't wait!!! And LOVE the nude shots circulating of his co-star Heath Ledger!!!

I seem to reamember the nude shots were of Heath Ledger and Jake's stunt double, not actually Jake. Of course if it was Jake, would someone kindly PM me a link?


I remember having a crush on Jake when I saw October Sky, before he was famous. And for a couple of years I couldn't figure out why Hollywood hadn't caught on and hired him as a leading man.
