"I want to know what she did that was so bad??????"
Her protesting the war was not the bad thing. It was that she went over there and sided with the North Vietnamese who Americans were fighting. She had her picture taken with their weaponry and is shown obviously enjoying it. She broadcast to American soldiers telling them how horrible they were for fighting in the war.
BUT the worst thing was that she visited American POWs, and while visiting them, they passed her notes describing how they were being abused. She was supposed to take the notes back to America but she turned them over to the North Vietnamese who in turn treated the POWs even worse.
Several years ago, I attended an antique show that was held at a VFW hall. In the men's room they had a picture of Jane Fonda painted in every single urinal, right in the position where the man would pee.

Ahhh, thanks for the information.....
I don't like that....I guess she all she wanted to do was end the war, but I guess she went about it the wrong way......that's really sad about the prisoners of war

The POW passing notes story is debated. Seems like it's a he said/she said story.
Snopes does fill in some details.

Any woman who would have lesbian sex to please her husband (and not herself) needs a new husband and a spine transplant.
Time doesn't heal all wounds. But I would like to think that her contrition is sincere and not for the book tour.

And my phone number.

Posted: 4/7/05 at 4:11pmWell, at least the husbands gone! I can only imagine the regrets she has. Knowing 'Hanoi Jane' will probably be in her obituary headline can't be a pleasant thought for a woman her age.

Posted: 4/7/05 at 4:17pmIn an interview in 2000, almost thirty years after the fact, Fonda admitted: "I will go to my grave regretting the photograph of me in an anti-aircraft carrier, which looks like I was trying to shoot at American planes. It hurt so many soldiers. It galvanized such hostility. It was the most horrible thing I could possibly have done. It was just thoughtless."

She apologized many times, not just for the publication. But she sticks to her POV about the war, and all of the other activities she lead or participated in, so this doesn't smack of trying to win over people who loathe her. She is basically saying, 'this is who I am; take it or leave it.' Obviously, just as many people will leave her. But watch the book sell.
She was on the View yesterday, and brought up something interesting: she was against the Iraq war, and though invited to protest, said "I have not, and purposely stayed away, because I bring too much baggage." She went on to say that her reputation hurts such a cause, not helps. She knows she can readily be used as a symbol by the far right, even after we've all learned how wrong, morally and otherwise, Viet Nam was.
And we all know how just appearing with Kerry in a photo didn't help him. Nor did his perpetually wimpy approach to his own anti-war activities. He should've been as proud as she instead of showing up and acting mealymouthed and butch at the same time with that ludicrous salute/'reporting for duty! BS at the convention. A tactical error HE should apologize to all of us Democrats!
And let's face it, with the country as divided as it is, these are not "healing" or forgiving times. I think it actually an ideal moment to bring out this tome, because love her or hate her, she's a part of our history, and part of American dissent. '

I don't know. I liked that because Bush truly couldn't do that.

I think she took the plastic surgery just a bit too far.
She's heading into Bill Irwin territory there.
She no longer looks like Jane Fonda.
Pity.
Is she making movies again, I hope?

I didn't join to make that comment, but it's a thread here, and I have to begin commenting someplace.

If Jane Fonda's had plastc srgery that is one helluva good one she's got there. She doesn't look like she's had any. I also remember reading somewhere that she stated women should age gracefully and *make friends* with their wrinkles. But then again she also advocated healthy eating and exercising and turned out to be bulimic for over 30 years, so you just never know. . .
