They do rule! (Not to be confused with Janice Rule!)
Janis is such a hoot in this movie as an "Esther Williams" spoof, and I love her voice!

I adore Janis Paige. Discovered by Warners at the Hollywood Canteen, she and Jack Carson made a nifty team but she should have been a bigger star then she was. It didn't help her when a new blonde was rushed into this film after Betty Hutton had to drop out because she was pregnant and MGM refused to lend Judy Garland.
Janis and the blonde remain close friends to this day.
Spiced with music in a catchy kind of key

Janis was a good friend of a good friend of mine. They were at Warners together, and I always heard how terrific she was via various anecdotes. I never did meet her, though. My friend and I both agreed that Janis would have been better served had she been signed by MGM, where the big musicals were being made. She really had a wonderful, rich voice. Still, she more than held her own at Warners.
I'm glad and grateful for the performances we have of her on film. And it was nice to find out that she was a good person, too.
