What was she thinking and where did those new lyrics come from that she sang. If something is not broke dont fix it
I hope you're not referring to the "new lyrics" from the RSC stage version which have been around forever. She played Dorothy in the Lincoln Center concert. It wasn't that bad considering the small amount of rehearsal time. Nathan Lane pretty much upstaged everyone though. There's a CD and DVD that I would recommend if you've never seen it.

I'll never forget Jewel singing "O Holy Night" at the Rockefeller Center tree lighting a few years ago. She was promoting her new Christmas album and this was a selection from it. She completely blanked out on the lyric and did a terrible job of ad-libbing words that neither rhymed nor made sense.
Your lucky you haven't heard her attempt at opera. She thinks that just because she is a singer and has had some training in opera/classical, that she can go on stage without a problem and sing an aria.
Jewel as Dorothy brought new meaning to the word horrendous.
She was not very good at all last night. I turned down the volume and just watched the beautiful Chelsea and equally beautiful Dimitri dance in silence.
