Posted: 7/29/05 at 10:18pmDon't you just love listening to religious idiots who think their way is the only way, discounting all else. The world would be a far better place without religion.

Hey, if they can think they're right, then I can think I'm right.

Posted: 7/29/05 at 10:57pmAh but the question is can you tolerate eachother?

Posted: 7/29/05 at 11:00pmI wonder why people have an issue with someone preaching to them within a thread that is titled Jews and the Messiah, and an invitation by the thread's creator to express how you feel. Having said that, when I want to be preached to, I go to my preacher!

Posted: 7/29/05 at 11:06pmAMEN!
#36re: Jews and The Messiah
Posted: 7/29/05 at 11:11pmWell, I don't believe it was an invitation to preach at all, it was an invitation to discuss whether it is right to preach to others of a different religion...

Well, if you're being preached to, you'd know the answer.

Story time!
When I was in the first grade, a little boy came up to me ans says "you don't exist."
First grade me thinks "....really?"
The little boy says "yes, Jews killed Jesus so my mom told me to pretend you dont exist."
So I go to my older, at that time, fourth grade sister, already a budding activist, without even alerting my mom to the situation she goes straight to the principal and tells her of the discrimination going on against us.
The boy, me, and my sister are called down to the principals office. She sits my sister and I down and gives US a lesson on accepting other peoples beliefs.
Turns out she went to the same church as the kid.
Thats terrible that someone had to go out of there way to PM you that. The silly part is, before the whole Jesus thing came along, Jewish and Christian religions were formed from the same old testament. And then good ol' Jesus came along and we parted our ways. So now our beliefs our different. Maybe these people have forgotten thats why the world has all these different religions. Like..if someone believes that God will help them in the afterlife or whatever they say..power to them. If we don't think that, leave us alone.
But yeah.

I still say that being preached to in a thread entitled Jews and The Messiah is not such a surprise. I find it odd that people think it's strange. What I was trying to say was that if you're being preached to by someone, you know their answer to the question posed in the original post. Also, many of the responses in this thread, are just as preachy as the preacher's.

Well, I think Jesus is the Messiah. We believe he will return to save his faithful. It is believed that the reason why all this "evil" exists still, is b/c the Bible (NT) says that "all evil" must come to pass before it is to be eradicated completely by God, or Christ as we believe.
I personally believe that the reason why we will never have peace on earth is b/c people argue over who is "God." Truth is, religion depicts our way of life, whether we like to admit it or not.
One of the reasons I love Christianity is b/c in essence, what you do is develop a one-on-one relationship with Christ. All Christ asks from His believers is to repent (seek forgiveness), love one another, and to fast. These three things of course are very easy in theory, however for most it can be very hard in practice. And this is b/c "temptation" takes over us and we (people) are very weak to that.
Anyway, I believe there's only one God, and he is with everyone, even the non-believers - it's up to all of us to make the connection on our own.
(No disrespect to anyone's beliefs was intended.)

"I heard Idina was the Messiah."
EWWW I kissed the messiah - in my dreams....WAIT, doesn't the messiah control our dreams?
I knew she would see the light.
And Yenta - this is the difference btwn Jews and Goyim. We believe Jesus was a confused Jewish boy...the others believe he is really a He.

Posted: 7/30/05 at 10:04amThe Christian New Testament says that God recognizes three groups of people: the Jews, the other nations, and the Christians. God has rewards and judgements for all three groups of people, both here on Earth and in the afterlife.

Posted: 7/30/05 at 10:23amGotham is absolutely right. Catholic theology even teaches that Jews have their own special covenant with God which precedes all others. During the Easter Vigil Mass, the holiest celebration of the year, there is a special prayer said for Jews. It is a blessing prayer, honoring their commitment to their covenant and the renewal of that relationship during their Passover celebration.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, and whosoever beliveth in him shall not perish, but have ever lasting life.
Last time I checked, 'whosoever' meant anyone who belived...ANYONE.

I think God would be appalled at someone trying to speaking for him and I get upset when people say "My religion is RIGHT-yours is not." Are any of us his personal secretary? That is what YOU BELIEVE and I BELIEVE something different. Please stop talking about religion as if it were fact. "Have fun suffering"-who are you to syou know for sure I am going to suffer? The world is so fascinating because of all the different religious, and I'm all one for some religious discussion, but nobody's religion is the factual truth. Thank you, BernieFan, for discussing your beliefs so tactfully.
