With Pelosi and Carter in charge, things are really getting messed up. All they need is Murtha over there, and the trip would be perfect. Well, probably they need Rosie too.
From CNN (the Clinton News network)
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Former President Jimmy Carter expressed his support for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's trip to Syria, rejecting White House criticism of the visit.
"I was glad that she went," Carter said Wednesday. "When there is a crisis, the best way to help resolve the crisis is to deal with the people who are instrumental in the problem."
Pelosi arrived in Syria on Tuesday, in an attempt to open direct dialogue with Syria's leader, something President Bush opposes. Pelosi also discussed with President Bashar Al-Assad concerns about Syria's support for militant groups. (Full story)
Bush on Tuesday called the trip "counterproductive" and said it would send mixed signals.
"Photo opportunities and/or meetings with President Assad lead the Assad government to believe they're part of the mainstream of the international community, when, in fact, they're a state sponsor of terror," he said at a news conference in the White House's Rose Garden.
Carter, however, said there was "no threat" that the Democratic speaker's visit would dilute the United States' ability to speak to Syria with one voice.
Pelosi defended her visit, saying her talks with Al-Assad focused only on topics on which she and Bush agree.
"On the issues that we set before the president (of Syria)," she said, "there is no division among us or between our congressional delegation in Congress and the president of the United States." (Full story)
Syrian cabinet minister Buthayna Sha'ban expressed his support for the visit and said, "Syria stands for freedom and for peace, and so does Nancy Pelosi."

In what way shape or form is Jimmy Carter "in Charge"? And Nancy Pelosi is third in line for the Presidency. She's not really "In charge" but certainly a high-ranking government official.
The Polcy of the George W administration toward nations we disagree with has been isolate, provoke and then invade. I think you're just bitter that Madame Speaker got more done in one day's meetings than GW has in six years of bumbling bloody incompetance.

Oh yes, you are so right. And how many countries have we invaded? You act as if there have been no diplomatic efforts.
And let's just say that the Prime Minister of Israel has never had to correct Condi for making an international blunder Pelosi style.

Gosh. You have an unusual definition of "International Blunder."
And you are right on one point, Condoleeza Rice does not make many mistakes. Except maybe that time she classified "BIN LADEN DETERMINED TO STRIKE INSIDE THE US" as being "Historical in nature" and all those people got killed? Maybe you heard about it? It was in all the papers.

HDT2--Don't you EVER get tired of this "same old song?"
Just curious.
By the way, I love Jimmy Carter.
You and your boring repetitive, non-interesting posts?
Not so much.
I have to ask... what the f*ck is your point???
...other than to provoke and irritate, I see NONE.

Just standing by here....
This board needs some balance. Liberal blunders are not given any time. It is the same as the Treason Times.

Poor Nancy, even her liberal buddies at the post won't back her this time....
Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) offered an excellent demonstration yesterday of why members of Congress should not attempt to supplant the secretary of state when traveling abroad. After a meeting with Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad in Damascus, Ms. Pelosi announced that she had delivered a message from Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert that "Israel was ready to engage in peace talks" with Syria. What's more, she added, Mr. Assad was ready to "resume the peace process" as well. Having announced this seeming diplomatic breakthrough, Ms. Pelosi suggested that her Kissingerian shuttle diplomacy was just getting started. "We expressed our interest in using our good offices in promoting peace between Israel and Syria," she said.
Only one problem: The Israeli prime minister entrusted Ms. Pelosi with no such message. "What was communicated to the U.S. House Speaker does not contain any change in the policies of Israel," said a statement quickly issued by the prime minister's office. In fact, Mr. Olmert told Ms. Pelosi that "a number of Senate and House members who recently visited Damascus received the impression that despite the declarations of Bashar Assad, there is no change in the position of his country regarding a possible peace process with Israel." In other words, Ms. Pelosi not only misrepresented Israel's position but was virtually alone in failing to discern that Mr. Assad's words were mere propaganda.
I'm just standing by, laughing all the way.

"Just standing by here...."
Yes, we know. Safely, from your little isolated nook in the middle of the country. Loudly and frequently proclaiming that those healthy twenty-something men should go and fight for what's right.
Except you.
COWARD.

LOL... Sorry Pelosi is just like the rest I'm afraid. Don't you remember when AIPAC kicked her AS$ last week? She will fully support the invasion of Iran.
This Syria trip is fishy... that's all I have to say. Fishy.

What a blundering fool.

I'm sorry none of this makes sense. Pelosi does not DO ANYTHING on her own. The democrats will not dare offend Israel or AIPAC. I have a feeling Pelosi might be the new fall guy.
I can never forgive her for not pursuing an impeachment with Bush. I found that whole take-it-up-the-as@ bull a little to Condi-like. The whole folding under AIPAC pressure to remove the Iran provision a few weeks ago sealed the deal with me. Who do you think is the top? Condi or Pelosi?

Well, she was out there on her own when Olmert had to correct her.
How embarrassing. I wonder if any American politician has to be corrected so publicly bu Israel before.
OUCH.

Posted: 4/5/07 at 11:48pmHDT and his friends have an interesting way of dealing with the blunders, and the many scandals, of Republicans over the past few years. They bring up people who have been out of office for as long as anyone can remember and they to make comparisons to the crookedness, lying and any other forms of malfeasance that this administration has wrought upon the American people. Hence we hear names like Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, Sandy Burger etc. I'm sure LBJ and JFK will be blamed for something as soon as yet another Republican breaks the law and they can find some far fetched comparison. It's just so sad but then again, how do you have a Battle of wits with an unarmed opponent?

Please.. that is such bullsh!t. Olmert and Israel is known for retracting EVERYTHING they say about foreign policy. Every single week Olmert is offering some "Peace Initiative," I'm sorry but he has never fulfilled any promise. It's just not a level playing field.
Israel does not dictate things to the rest of the world. Only the US. Pelosi has not made an international blunder. I'm sure in every European country and anywhere in Asia or the Middle East and even South America (if anyone cared) they would appreciate her gesture. If she even said anything.
The entire world hates Bush. The whole damn world. You wanna know about a fu*k-up?? Look at a Iraq!
Then two years later an American city was destroyed by a natural disaster that is still STILL STILL in shambles.
Sorry Pelosi has to get up pretty early in the millennium to top Bush. Don't get me started on Olmert, he's lucky he is still in office. His own damn people hate him.

Are you anti-Israel?
Because I'd believe Olmert a whole lot sooner than Pelosi who has already been caught in countless lies.
She should hurry home to help with the rush to cut and run.
#22re: Jimmy Carter Stikes Again

Just asking. You seem a little defensive.
The whole situation highlights Pelosi's total incompetence.
