I think I heard that the next season of The West Wing is going to be the last anyway, so maybe it doesn't matter if it's in a graveyard slot! It won't be the same after Bartlett goes, anyway.
They gave up on Joan of Arcadia too soon!

Posted: 5/18/05 at 11:01pmThis is ridiculous. It's by far my favorite show...hell, I watch about two shows anymore, and this is the only one I even get excited over. And I'm not even Christian! What the hell do they WANT from a show??

Please, if you care about this show at all, do something! I wrote a letter and called and was able to talk to a secretary who took down my complaint. At least it's something!!

I don't supposed there's any chance it could be picked up by oneof the"lesser" networks - WB, UPN, etc.
Then again, WB cancelled Jack and Bobby, so, I doubt it.

here is my e-mail I just sent
Dear CBS executives,
I am writing on behalf of myself and every other Joan of Arcadia fan to let you know how upsetting it is to see this show cancelled. This show was the only show that I felt like I could sit down and watch and have an intelligent, thought provoking, and interesting time. "Reality TV" has taken over yours and many other networks and I for one am sick of it. I don't care who can hack it on an island while surrounded by camera crews and producers, I don't care about who wants to marry whom, or what some silly celebrity is doing in their not so personal life, or what happens when you stick X number of people in a house together. It is boring, redundant and tired. There are no new spins, the shock is gone, and it seems as though tv is throwing out the most mind numbing shows that they can come up with. Joan of Arcadia, and Judging Amy for that matter, were the only two shows on your network that I enjoyed watching and now that they are gone I have no reason to tune into your programming and I have no intention of doing so either. When a show has a strong fan base you should take that into consideration before you cut it so quickly. No one in my household will be watching CBS this season and I will encourage others to follow our lead. Please reconsider your programming choice and bring back Joan of Arcadia.

Posted: 5/24/05 at 2:27amMan, I totally missed this news. Found this thread three pages back and felt a kick to the heart. I cannot believe this is happening again. The year Joan came on, I *almost* didn't watch any of the new shows that season, because I was so tired of losing a good show after one year, and sometimes only a few episodes. I am just so sad.

Posted: 5/24/05 at 1:35pmActually, writing the network is only a small amount of the battle. Whenever you have a show that you like (or hate), you should keep track of the companies who run commercials. They are not called "the sponsors" for nothing. If they think that their advertising dollars are being utilized, they would put pressure on the network to bring the show back.

Posted: 5/24/05 at 1:55pmGood point, Gotham. CBS seems to be saying that JOA wasn't attracting the "younger viewer" to whom sponsors want to make their pitch. All well and good (for those sponsors), but does that mean prime time is being skewed to suit whatever age is defined as "younger"? Where does leave adult programming?
