I am devestated beyond words ![]()
USA Today
At least, Amber has had a chance to start her movie career with the sisterhood of the traveling pants
I saw an ad for that movie last night (via the Tivo) and thought it was a joke...man, what a horrible title for a film

Ew.
Yes, Dear and Two and a Half Men are two of the crappiest shows, yet they survive. Disgusting.
I think its because it is based on a book, and the crappy title came with the territory. I do like amber, but the plotline is a little sketchy too the pants are magic and somehow manage to fit the far different sized girls...correct me if i'm wrong
Jimmcf, no, the book the movie is based on is really good. The title is perfect, it's such a great story. I want Amber to be in movies, but dammit, Joan was the best show on tv!! And the finale left SO MUCH unanswered. CBS is definetely gonna hear from me. Bastards.
Upon hearing this news, I had only one thing to say: Are they friggin serious?

God, this is awful! (no pun intended). I can't believe it. Quality is sacrificed once again. Change the story line, change the timeslot, change whatever, but CANCEL it???
first American Dreams, then this - there's no justice!

They bashed George W. Bush, they get snuffed out!!
They were having a hard time supporting the storyline. How many "lessons" could Joan learn? And they didn't introduce any bad, Satanic forces quick enough to make it interesting.
However American Dreams had at least a decade worth of plots left, had they left it in its proper timeslot...wasn't it up against the O.C, not enough carcrashes and druken brawls I guess.
(not that I don't love the O.C, but quality and meaningful programming it is not)
I am gutted, especially considering I missed most of this past season.
And Joshua, I find Three and a Half Men to be consistenly hilarious every week. However, I'm with you on Yes, Dear.
it's like they're cancelling my life.
american dreams meant more to me than any show since buffy. it got the ax.
jack and bobby was a terrific show i could watch with mom, and it made me think. it got axed.
joan of arcadia was another thoughtful show with realistic portrayls of teenagers, and something i could watch with my family... and it gets the ax.
WHY DO I HAVE TO BE PUNISHED FOR HAVING SMART TASTE?
i'd much rather be dumb and happy instead of smart and miserable. :-/
[and radio free rosco isn't coming back next year either... but that's not as devistaiting as the previously mentioned]
Great. I was looking for ways to make my morning suck more. Mission accomplished.
NOO! OK This is the epitome of unfair and the greatest show of unintelligence by TV execs ever! I missed all, read that again ALL of last season thanks to stupid night classes and I was so excited about catching up and watching Joan again this fall. TV is going to become nothing but trashy "reality" tv and then TV execs will lose their butts when everyone gets sick of it. I am utterly depressed right now.
The only show that I cared about on tv.
Man, I am bummed! No more lessons for Joan to learn? Come on. This is what writers are for and I always believed "Joan" had pretty good writers. Give Jason Ritter more to do, have Joan grow up a bit, anything.
I am stunned and sad.
I refuse to give up hope. WRITE TO CBS, people!! Here's my letter:
To Whom it May Concern:
I am exceedingly disappointed in your careless decision to cancel Joan of Arcadia, which I consider to be the best Drama on television. I had almost given up on my search for any intelligent television that I could watch with my family without being offended. Then Joan came along, and it was the most satisfying show I had ever seen. The actors are all top-notch, and the writing was sincere and thought provoking. Every week, the saga of the Girardi family made me laugh, made me cry, and made me think. As a college student, I could relate to Joan’s struggle as she searched for her place in the world. I could also watch the show with my parents and younger brother, and each of them found something to relate to as well. This show was unique in a never-ending sea of “reality” drivel and mediocre sitcoms that appear everywhere else. I felt CBS was up to a higher standard, and that you realized that your audience appreciated an intelligent show like Joan. With your hasty decision to cancel the show, you have shown great disrespect for your loyal audience who tuned in each week. Not only that, but you provided an immense disservice to the amazing cast and crew who worked so hard to present quality television. Do you understand how rare that kind of quality is? I read all about the new shows CBS plans to add and I must say, programs like Flesh and Blood and Ghost Whisperer sound sophomoric at best and do not deserve to replace Joan of Arcadia. I just want you to know that I will not be tuning in to any CBS programming this year, and I will be advising others not to tune in as well. You have lost a loyal viewer and now I can only hope another network is smart enough to pick up the amazing show you so callously tossed aside in order to continue the trend of unintelligent, mediocre television. Shame on you, CBS.

I bet little girl God is crying right now. She was going to be the next Dakota Fanning.
Seriously though, you could see the show was in trouble when Annie Potts came and went. And Joan's friend Judith coming and going. The story lines were too shaky. And it turned melodramatic too early in the run of the show. In Season 1, they were at "Little House on the Prarie Season 4 - Mary goes blind" level of melodrama.
Goth, I see your point, but I still, feel season two had some worthwhile moments. It was still better tha nany other crao on tv right now. It wasn't quite up to par with the first season, but Joan was still a worthwhile show and it deserves closure ,not a finale that leaves so many things unanswered.
What the hell is wrong with TV execs?! They go and cancel one of the very few quality shows out there. Yes, wonderful! Let's go put more reality bulls@!t on the air. I hope CBS tanks!

History repeats itself really. This is the same thing that happened with "My So Called Life".
First I hear they are moving West Wing to Sunday night. Now they have cancelled Joan? OK I am ticked way beyond words.
At least there still is a West Wing, mominator. I was worried for a little while!

This is a really sad day for me. I loved this show and now there canning it? It was one of the few dramas that didn't have a crime theme in it. Also it was getting 8 millon people a week.It is sad when a good show leaves too soon.
