Yes, Dear and Two and a Half Men are two of the crappiest shows, yet they survive. Disgusting.

They were having a hard time supporting the storyline. How many "lessons" could Joan learn? And they didn't introduce any bad, Satanic forces quick enough to make it interesting.

(not that I don't love the O.C, but quality and meaningful programming it is not)

And Joshua, I find Three and a Half Men to be consistenly hilarious every week. However, I'm with you on Yes, Dear.

american dreams meant more to me than any show since buffy. it got the ax.
jack and bobby was a terrific show i could watch with mom, and it made me think. it got axed.
joan of arcadia was another thoughtful show with realistic portrayls of teenagers, and something i could watch with my family... and it gets the ax.
WHY DO I HAVE TO BE PUNISHED FOR HAVING SMART TASTE?
i'd much rather be dumb and happy instead of smart and miserable. :-/
[and radio free rosco isn't coming back next year either... but that's not as devistaiting as the previously mentioned]

Man, I am bummed! No more lessons for Joan to learn? Come on. This is what writers are for and I always believed "Joan" had pretty good writers. Give Jason Ritter more to do, have Joan grow up a bit, anything.
I am stunned and sad.

To Whom it May Concern:
I am exceedingly disappointed in your careless decision to cancel Joan of Arcadia, which I consider to be the best Drama on television. I had almost given up on my search for any intelligent television that I could watch with my family without being offended. Then Joan came along, and it was the most satisfying show I had ever seen. The actors are all top-notch, and the writing was sincere and thought provoking. Every week, the saga of the Girardi family made me laugh, made me cry, and made me think. As a college student, I could relate to Joan’s struggle as she searched for her place in the world. I could also watch the show with my parents and younger brother, and each of them found something to relate to as well. This show was unique in a never-ending sea of “reality” drivel and mediocre sitcoms that appear everywhere else. I felt CBS was up to a higher standard, and that you realized that your audience appreciated an intelligent show like Joan. With your hasty decision to cancel the show, you have shown great disrespect for your loyal audience who tuned in each week. Not only that, but you provided an immense disservice to the amazing cast and crew who worked so hard to present quality television. Do you understand how rare that kind of quality is? I read all about the new shows CBS plans to add and I must say, programs like Flesh and Blood and Ghost Whisperer sound sophomoric at best and do not deserve to replace Joan of Arcadia. I just want you to know that I will not be tuning in to any CBS programming this year, and I will be advising others not to tune in as well. You have lost a loyal viewer and now I can only hope another network is smart enough to pick up the amazing show you so callously tossed aside in order to continue the trend of unintelligent, mediocre television. Shame on you, CBS.

Seriously though, you could see the show was in trouble when Annie Potts came and went. And Joan's friend Judith coming and going. The story lines were too shaky. And it turned melodramatic too early in the run of the show. In Season 1, they were at "Little House on the Prarie Season 4 - Mary goes blind" level of melodrama.
