Does he break your heart in Hedwig?
I loved him in those Timex commercials.
I am in love with this man.
I'm not up on things with him so much. How can he top Hedwig? Is it possible?
Glebb, I saw that film and I'm pretty sure Michael Pitt topped Hedwig.
Takes one to know one, huh?
Coming up for JCM...his newest film, the blatantly erotic film comedy, "Shortbus." Does ANYone have ANY information about this??? I'm excited! Boiiing!
Oh! Answered my own query:
John Cameron Mitchell wants cash to make 'Shortbus' real sex comedy
John Cameron Mitchell, the creator and star of the drag hit "Hedwig and the Angry Inch," wants your money to make a comedy with real live sex taking place on camera. "The purpose of pornography is to arouse, whereas here," he said, "the priority is the emotional life of the characters. Sex," says Mitchell, "has been cheapened by porn." After a year and a half of rehearsals, having raised $60,000 from friends and supporters including music star Moby, Mitchell is out to raise the remainder of $2 million, but funders keep turning him down. "They really want to see it made, but they don't know how they can successfully market such a sexually explicit film, and one without a rating," he said. The working title of Mitchell's film is "Shortbus," from the name of a salon where the characters meet to give readings and performances - and sometimes to have public sex. It's actually modeled on real-life salons in Downtown Manhattan.

I'll never forget when the movie was first being discussed, JCM said he wanted the tagline to be, "I laughed..I cried..I came." Can I say that here?
LOVE LOVE LOVE this man. There are few geniuses out there, but I do believe he's among them. I'm seeing him in the 3rd Kushner reading where he plays Laura Bush-- very excited!!
See, if I was a millionaire, this is the kind of stuff I would be funding... why shouldn't they be able to market a dramatic comedy with incredible acting, a great script and real sex? What's the big deal? It's life. I would not support it if I felt the final cut did not have the acting up to par and able to compete with the sex, or if I felt the sex was too blatant to be looked upon by most as romantic or tasteful. It doesn't even have to be romantic. If we're trying to reflect real life, sex isn't always about romance. Provided the story and situation support the sex and not the other way around I think it's a very good idea.
