Anyone else who can't get enough of his music? Take Me Home Country Roads, Leavin on a Jet Plane, Great Big Feathebed.....the list goes on. All such great music. I wish I could have seen him in concert.

I'll admit that I totally love him...he's got one of the purest, most beautiful voices out there.
There's a great video of John on youtube singing a duet of Jet Plane with Cass Elliot.
I have an unintentional tribute to John on my body. About a week before he died, I got a tattoo on the back of my shoulder of a sunrise coming out behind multi-colored clouds. I got it as a symbol to stay positive, that the sun will always shine...and now I just think of it as the sunshine on my shoulder.
But I love John Denver. His voice is beautiful. I get nostalgic when I think of him because my parents used to put on his "Live" cassette in the car during road trips. And, of course, his Christmas album with the Muppets was the most played album in my house.

There is just something so genuine about his music. I find myself listening to his music more and more as I become more and more diillusioned with pop culture and it's artificiality.
Sunshine on my shoulder DOES make me happy...in every possible way. Great song, great voice. And Annie's Song? I'm a puddle. Good stuff, that.

Annie's Song kills me, too!
son_of_a_gunn_25, I know what you mean. He's just so damn sincere.
I remember meeting John about a million years ago - when he was 1/3 of the Chad Mitchell Trio. When he branched out on his own, a friend and her husband (Taffy Nivert and Bill Danoff) sang backup for him at some local watering holes. She and her husband ended up writing "Country Roads", which they sent to Johnny Cash to record. Cash turned them down and so they asked their friend John Denver if he'd be interested. He added some lyrics and they all ended up making the record - and history as it happened.
I was lucky enough to see him twice in concert. He had large screens mounted on either side of the stage and these incredible films of the mountains and lakes and eagles, etc. would run while he performed in the center stage. Your heart would end up in your throat - both from the films and his beautiful voice.

I love Annie's song, and Leavin' on a Jet Plane is so sad when you know how he died.

When I was little, I wanted to be the next John Denver. I loved "Take Me Home" and "Thank God, I'm A Country Boy".
Great story Mamie! I am currently enamoured with The Eagle and the Hawk. I can't get enough of it!

I saw him in concert in Kansas in 1979 or 1980. My sisters and I were great fans. We were in a "band" and John Denver was a staple. He was a great song writer!

Here is a video someone made to go with the song. A little cheesy in a few places, but it is exactly what feel like doing when listening to it.

His music had a tremendous impact on me growing up and I was fortunate enough to see him live in-concert several times. I was ridiculed and teased mercilessly by some for my love and enjoyment of his music. While others in my age group were listening to Led Zeppelin and the like, I was holed up in my room listening to John's music. My favorite Denver song is Poems, Prayers and Promises. I miss him. I think I’ll go put on his live Wildlife Concert CD right now.

If you truly love America (not Bush's America, but real, authentic America) and the environment, you "must" love John Denver. His songs are timeless and made up of pure beauty ... Calypso is one of my all-time favorites; it totally captures the spuirit of ocean life. As cheesy as it sounds, you can literally smell the water all around you; that tune is incrediblke.
My dad is a huge fan of his as well, and I think I was even secretly sadder than he was when John Denver passed. After his death, for the next couple of months, I "could not" listen to one of his songs all the way through. We had a chance to see him in conert at a winery amphitheatre several months before, but opted not to; if we only knew what we know now ... I have "always" regretted it. As much as I regret not ever having seen Ray Charles in concert (whch I always wanted to do).
"Make every day Earth Day" -- John Denver
I was recently doing another search of John Denver videos on Youtube and came across this clip. Now I really want this movie! It may not be great, but anything that combines John Denver and the Muppets has to have some sort of merit.
(I am aware of the John Denver and Muppets Christmas Christmas which I would also love to get my hands on.)

John Denver, does a great guest spot on the newly released Doris Day Today TV special. Although I'm not a Denver fan, I loved his spots with Doris, their chemistry together is lovely to watch. He's a nice little dancer too.
i miss him terribly. i saw him twice ... once live with full orchestra - he sang for a solid 3 hours - and it was like being lifted out of my seat ... the other time he was completely solo - a totally different type concert but no less amazing.
