Does anyone else know/love this song from John's earlier CD INSIDE WANTS OUT?
I just think it's such a beautiful and bittersweet song. The orchestrations in the background blend perfectly with John's guitar.
I just love this song! It's available on iTunes. I'd highly recommend it!
I have been obsessed with that song since I got "Inside Wants Out" about 4 years ago. My favorite part:
"I loved you
Grey sweatpants
No makeup
So perfect..."
KILLS me every time. "Love Soon" and "Victoria" are great as well.
That song's freakin' GORGEOUS. It shows truthful song writing, and John's amazing skills.
Wonderful.
kimmy!! no way, that is one of my favorite parts too. i think i was at that part when i posted this thread. it's just so good.
i'm in such a john mayer mood today. his music is so relaxed yet still so great. there's so many catchy tunes and great lyrics.
john mayer is such an outstanding songwriter. he also went to my highschool! woo!
Ugh, it makes me cry.
I think that this is one of the most amazing songs I have ever heard. This and Something's Missing kill me everytime!
I love all of John Mayer's older songs. They make me want to curl up with a blanket and hot chocolate and watch snow fall...
(I really am not sure why I associate his slower songs with Cmas and winter...)
I COMPLETELY agree, Millie.
His older songs remind me of snow falling.
His second CD reminds me of lonely, cool summer nights.
His third CD reminds me of fall and being lonely.
I agree , Millie.
I have been to 3 John Mayer concerts to date and can without a doubt say that of any concert, his are my absolute favorite to attend. He is such a talented man, and even more AMAZING live.
Yes. My favorite of his was his ROOM FOR SQUARES Summer '02 tour when he had the outdoor concert in Central Park's summerstage. There weren't that many people there, because he was still kind of new, so it was very intimate and amazing. And it was pouring rain.
He's from my hometown, so whenever he comes to the area, it's always fun to see his shows because the home turf element always adds something fun to it.
And I totally agree that his albums seem to have seasons. "Inside Wants Out" is definitely winter...maybe it's because "Quiet" mentions snow? "Room for Squares" is summery to me for the most part, with the exception of "St. Patrick's Day", for obvious reasons. "Heavier Things"...definitely fall. Maybe it's because that's when I got it, so I associate fall things with hearing his music, but it just all feels very fall...especially "Clarity".
Has anyone heard any of his John Mayer Trio stuff? I've heard bits and pieces and it sounds pretty great.

"Comfortable" is my absolute favorite John Mayer song, and probably one of my favorite songs of all time.
"Says that the Bible is all that she reads,
and prefers that I not use profanity.
Your mouth was so dirty..."
i love john mayer! i'm so glad there are so many jm lovers out there too!
i've only seen him once live. it was on st. patricks day, so he obviously closed with that song. it was such a great show. i didn't expect him to sound as good live as he did on his recordings, but i might say he sounded even better!

ahh i love that song... im not as much of a jm fan as i used to be but that song still gives me the chills, and live that song definitely qualifies as a showstopper
the lyrics are so "down-to-earth" but the music is absolutely beautiful..the perfect combination
Definitely. As much as I adore this song, I can rarely listen to it, because it makes me cry.
It's my absolute favorite John Mayer song. Although "St. Patrick's Day" ranks up there too...
it's a good song to save when you need a good cry. hopefully that isn't too often. but when it does happen, there's a really good choice.
This song is beautiful. Older John Mayer is alot better than new John.
I didn't care for "Heavier Things," really. I sort of listen to it more out of obligation than actual love for the songs. He needs a new cd...
i remember at the concert that i went to, he talked about a new one cd the works, and even played some songs he said would be on it. but that was a while ago, and i haven't heard of anything new.
my brother saw him driving 'round town the other day.
don't know why he isn't in some recording studio somewhere!
on a less serious note i like his mock "area codes"
he sings
"I've got hoes in different area codes" and then he's all like "no, i'm no dog" and he swtiches it to "i've got shows, in different area codes"
