Great comic actor...
... and even more sadly there's really not much of anyone to take his place.
Some kinda funny!!
He was a funny man. If there hadn't been a Jonathan Winters, there couldn't have been a Robin Williams.

I will always remember him for wrecking the gas station in It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World.
(And on a personal note, I wish that some news sources would hire smarter people. On AOL, they are saying "A star of Mork & Mindy has died". Winters was a huge success long before M&M. It's like saying Judy Garland star of "Judgement at Nuremberg" has died)

A comic genius. Listening to his comedy albums is still a treat
He was one of the best parts of It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad World.
R.I.P.
His Humpty Dumpty in a tv version of Alice in Wonderland was deliciously demented.
Such a wonderful imagination. I loved to watch him invent characters right in front of the camera.
I will miss his talent. RIP
What a loss. He was one of a kind, and I don't think we will ever see his type again.
Williams WISHED he had the inventiveness of Winters. And, Williams has said that himself.

To give credit to people who give credit where credit is due, Williams *did* lobby to make him a regular on his sitcom. He knew who his forbears were.
MeTV is currently showing Winters's Twilight Zone episode, A Game of Pool from 1961, co-starring Jack Klugman.
Almost every ( I take that back, every) interview with Robin Williams I have seen he sited Winters as his inspiration and mentor. Winters was Williams' idol!

Met him many years ago and, although I never would have thought it, he was very shy and soft spoken. And very sweet, which I *would* have imagined. The end of an era.
