Journey to the West

Hey has anyone out there gone to the website of this new musical called Journey to the West? It is amazing! You can download the entire cd for free! Is anyone going to see it when it comes to NYMF next month?

I got an email from a friend today who's going to see a "research and development result". From that, I went to the website and downloaded the concept album.

Tex, by the very nature of your post, I'm going to assume that you are attached to the show in some way. For that, I feel I should apologize for what I'm about to say - although I'm speaking from the heart. It's bad. It's, at times, laughably bad. The concept and the music are questionable enough, but the lyrics truly kill it.

I will give you the benefit of the doubt by saying that I have only listened to it once. I promise that I will go back and give it a second (even a third!) listen before I make up my mind once and for all. But, frankly, if my first impression had me genuinely laughing out loud, I doubt that repeated listenings are going to change much. They will probably only further strengthen my opinion.

If you're interested, I'd be willing to give more complete and better thought responses after a couple of listens. I hate to judge on such limited knowledge but frankly, my initial reaction was not positive at all. Sorry.
