Posted: 10/22/07 at 5:59pmDoes anyone else get a kick out of watching this woman pitch her products on HSN? Has anyone ever bought Huggable Hangers? I have never seen anyone oversell a product as much as she! Her thick NJ accent totally cracks me up. Even the names of her products- My Little Steamer, Huggable Hangers.... It's amazing how she just keep reinventing the same products over and over and how she uses such decriptive words when selling! Very funny! I'm surprised SNL hasn't done a takeoff on her yet! mom

I admit, I have the huggable hangers (but they were a gift from my sister, honest!). Actually, I like them.
There's nothing worse than Adrienne Arpel on HSN. That woman scares me. She's had so much work on her face it doesn't move anymore.

Posted: 10/22/07 at 6:18pmOk- I believe you about the hangers. Yeah, Adrienne has been around for a long time. When I was in training for my job about ten years ago, I stayed in the hotel in Philadelphia where all the QVC people stayed. I saw Tova Borgnine chain smoking in the bar area. She IS beautiful but she sells skin care and smoking is so bad for the skin. I also saw Marie Osmond and the vitamin guy who wears the bow tie. The funniest that I met was Richard Simmons. He was wearing a glitter tank top and shorts and it was in November and it was sleeting! He was so nice to everyone in the lobby though. mom

I had huggable hangers and loved them. Now I buy the rip-off kind at Bed Bath & Beyond.
And I ADORE my "My Little Steamer". Everytime I brought it home from college over the summer, everyone in my family stole it. So now we have three or four of them. They're great.

Posted: 10/22/07 at 7:32pmA couple of years ago my family went down to spend Thanksgiving with my sister in Tennessee. We were all quite silly after dinner and were sitting around watching HSN. I called up to make a testimonial about whatever product it was they were selling at that particular time. Well who would have thought they would put me on the air!! The funny thing is when I returned to DC, a friend of mine called me and asked if I was on HSN over the holiday. He said he heard my testimonial!

Posted: 10/22/07 at 9:52pmI think the woman who does the Lock and Lock spiels on QVC is the worst vendor around. She has a voice like Roseann Barr. Need i say more?

Posted: 10/22/07 at 10:43pmDollypop, I can't say I've ever seen her. What's a Lock and Lock?
#8re: Joy Mangano and Home Shopping
Posted: 10/22/07 at 10:51pmOh good- I'm not the only one who hasn't seen the Lock and Lock. I only watch these shows in passing- not religiously. I know when HSN first started, my mom gave an on-air testimonial. She was so excited so at least I knew they were real. mom

I LOVE my Huggable Hangers! Nothing ever falls off of them, they're attractive and really do help maximize your closet space.
Dottie, Adrien Arpel scares the crap out of me, too. Those lips! That stretched out face. That horrid, nagging voice. Also, ever notice how offensive she is to the older female models while plying her crap? "See how deep her bags and undereye circles are? Look at these jowls. Now watch what happens with my Adriel Arpel Magic anti-aging whatever..."
The wackiest one of all? The Quacker Factory lady. Is that all it takes to get rich? Design some atrocious stretchy pants and sweaters with barn animals and appliques and hock them on QVC? I guess there's a market for it. Quack quack!

Blueroses and Doodle, you two just crack me up.
Blueroses, OMG, Adrienne's voice is so annoying. Yet whenever she's on HSN it's the equivalent of watching a trainwreck. I just can't keep my eyes off of her!

Devil horns.
Whenever I see Quacker Factory is on, I have to watch it. The clothes are just so over-the-top-tacky-first-grade-teacher-ware, it's hilarious. My favorite was this craptastic knit cardigan with Time Square knit into it and the buttons were "big apples". Someone suggested you buy it for a New Yorker friend. I've yet to make a friend in NYC that would ever be caught dead wearing something like that.

Posted: 10/23/07 at 1:09pmI'm sorry, but outfits like that are so "midwest". Whenever I see the fashions being hawked on HSN, usually my first reaction is, "WTF".

I've never seen anyone wear any of the Quacker Factory crap...and, by the way, I went to her site to get the pic, and am scarred.
The best part of her segments is the sickly look on the model's faces...it's like they're saying, "seriously? I wouldnt be caught dead in this if I wasnt being paid!"
Also, the clothes seem geared toward larger women, and so I wonder why she makes things so bulky! Big girls are just adding to their girth out there!

Posted: 10/23/07 at 1:12pmI don't know, I went to a fabulous art gallery show on Saturday where I saw two couples drop six figures on paintings -- both the women -- wearing bad Halloween sweaters.

Posted: 10/23/07 at 1:12pmDoodle, just to clarify, were you "scarred" or "scared" (or maybe both) from visiting the website ?
#18re: Joy Mangano and Home Shopping
Posted: 10/23/07 at 1:30pmThe worst are Jean's other employees that come on the shows. They all have this big fake smile permanently affixed to their faces and a glazed over look in their eyes. I have a feeling that the quacking is an integral part of the brainwashing process.

skittles, I would have loved to have seen that cardigan! I would die if someone gave that to me as a gift.
The one show I remember in particular featured designs with barnyard animals. What plus size woman would buy an article of clothing with glittery cows and pigs all over it?! I'm sure it sold out. lol

doodle, you're 100% correct. I always go up and down with weight, and manage to look nice in clothes because I know what looks good on me. Anyone with any sense knows that bulky, shapeless clothing looks horrible. Everything you wear should fit you well and emphasize/flatter your shape.
Love how Jeanne continues to rock the Loverboy headband. Oh well, she's happy and loaded.
I like how she signed the letter on her welcome page...

Posted: 10/24/07 at 7:35amCoincidentally, Jeanne was pitching her holiday crap on QVC all last evening. I was peeing myself. It was so much fun to watch bits and pieces of it.
#23re: Joy Mangano and Home Shopping
Posted: 10/24/07 at 7:51amI'm so sorry I missed it. Sadly, Jeanne is probably laughing all the way to the bank, suckering all those poor women into buying something that they think is so stylish (yet, is oh so tacky).

WTF is the deal with that DAVID guy (QVC), the host who's always eating crappy food and acting truly strange? OMG!
