Posted: 6/20/05 at 7:16pmYou're as old as my dad! He says that it was that show that made him a lifelong fan of Julie Andrews.

Posted: 6/20/05 at 7:54pmConvinceMe2 - your father would have loved a former poster: FeodorSverdlov. He posted the coolest pics of Julie Andrews.

those sound like they would be really fun to watch.
especially for people like me who have never seen (or heard of) them.

Yes he did Glebb. Feodor posted some beautiful, rarely seen (for me anyway) photos of Julie Andrews and Richard Burton in "Camelot".
His avatars were always of Julie and Omar Sharif in "The Tamarind Seed" because his user name was the name of the character Omar played in that film. He was cool.

Posted: 6/20/05 at 9:53pmBoth my parents are JA freaks. Always have been. The three of us kids just dealt with it. We all liked her, though. Not to the extent my parents did, however. I remember The Tamarind Seed, although I would never have remembered Omar Sharif's characters' name. Looking forward to receiving Together Again in the mail.

Posted: 6/22/05 at 1:09pmQuestion: in the 1962 Julie and Carol at Carnegie Hall, Carol sings a big torchy ballad that I cannot remember the name of - I'm wondering a few things - what was it? Was it written for the show? Is it in print anywhere? I remember just being in awe during that segment when I saw it at the Museum of Radio and Television last year.

Posted: 6/22/05 at 1:56pmIt's called "Meantime". I have Carol's version on CD. I don't know where it's from, though.

Posted: 6/22/05 at 2:08pmMeantime...great - does the CD say who wrote it? what CD is that? I have one of her CDs but that's not on it.

Posted: 6/22/05 at 2:13pmWhat I meant to say is that I don't know if it is from a show or where the song is from. I have a CD of Julie and Carol at Carnegie Hall. It says nothing about who wrote it. Just says MEANTIME (4:35)

OH! I didn't realize there was a CD of the show - I don't think it's available on DVD (the show)...but I may be wrong about that.
Thanks for the info though - very helpful!

I believe the CD is out-of-print. Also, it mustn't have been in print for very long, because everyone is surprised that it exists at all. My mom or dad could tell me of the existence of a DVD, but I rather doubt one exists. Seems to me I would have been aware of that; but I don't really know. Also, as I recall it, the recording is not really a "soundtrack" of the special; but rather a hybrid recording of elements from the special, and mostly studio recordings. So, it contains exactly the same material, just done in a studio, rather than from the actual performance that was shown on television. I would imagine, done for recording quality purposes.
