Cinderella.
Which and why?

Oh my god...Glebb! I just realized both these women played Cinderella and they were together in Victor/Victoria! and both deserved their Oscar noms.
Lesley Ann.
Because she was in color.
Because she had that cool dance solo.
Because she's Lesley Ann Friggin' Warren and she RULES!
My pick, Leslie Ann Warren...when I was a child, she was Cinderella.
I agree. I love Julie, but Leslie Ann IS Cinderella! (and she had a hotter prince)
Tough call. Julie is the reason I fell in love with musical theatre - but Leslie Ann always makes me cry in the role of Cinderella - and that dance solo is breathtaking. She has such vulnerability in the role - and those legs go on for days!
I prefer Lesley. I think Leslie Ann was more suited for the role. Her voice and vulnerablilty are what made me fall in love with musicals and the age of 3. However, whe i saw Julie's I was blown away, but she was missing the vulnerability and shyness that Lesie had. (although I absolutely ADORE her)
Also, Leslie was an amazing dancer. I just absolutely love everything about her performance in this, makes me cry everytime.
Also, I have both of these on DVD as well as Victor/Victoria, so it's fun to watch them back to back and compare it all!
I also love the fact that in the Lesley Ann version, they added the song "Loneliness of Evening" for the prince - that song is so beautiful, and Stuart Damon had a great voice.
I never saw Leslie Ann in Cinderella, but I would be willing to bet I would go with Julie. I have never liked Leslie. In ANYthing...lol. Except maybe Pure Country, only because she was the only person who could act. "Get chur ass own outta herre."
A very tough call indeed.
Leslie's neck is as graceful as a swans but Julie's voice and sincerity. I just don't know.
leslie. is it weird that i just watched it again yesterday? i grew up watching a taped copy of leslie in cinderella.
the step family in Lelie's is mean, and the one in Julie's is funny. So I feel worse for Lelie, and sympathize more with her. i dunno, as far as cinderella goes, Lesley takes the cake.
ps- midnghtdolphin, who's in your avatar?
yeah i love me some Lesley Ann Warren!
if you guys loved her in Cinderella check her out in her first 2 Disney movies: The Happiest Millionaire and The One and Only, Genuine Original Family Band two other films that showcase her singing and dancing.
*LoL* not to threadjack or anything but does anyone here remember her "bad girl" phase in the films: 79 Park Avenue, Portrait of A Stripper and Portrait of a Showgirl?
I hate Leslie Ann Warren's CINDERELLA. It's beyond boring. They completely drained Hammersteins humor from the piece; but LAW is fine in it. Marquise, for the record, Julie's version was in color, too! It's just that only a B&W kinescope survives. It was broadcast live and in color. So, comparing the two is really pointless. One was a live production (no stopping, no retakes), and one was a controlled studio produced video taped production (lots of stops). There is also no comparison in the vocals!
Everyone is entitled to their opinion.
Which is why I gave mine.

Julie, because she's spunky and independent and WORKS for her happiness instead of the wimpy Leslie who passively accepts what happens to her.

Leslie does dance beautifully. She was an SAB student.
She's very sweet when offering the Prince "a cool dipper of water," but I've got to vote for Julie.
lol, I've always felt Cinderella would be kind of sweet and passive. To each his own!
I saw the LAW version first, but even if I hadn't I think I still would like her better as Cinderella. Julie sang beautifully in her version, but I didn't feel like she gave much of a performance.
That's the hottest picture of Ian Sommerhalder I've ever seen. I love him.
Hm, Julie's vocals are better but I've only ever seen the LAW version.

When I was little I liked Leslie Ann, but now I HATE her Cinderella. I havent seen Julies but I'm DYING to!
Well, Julie's version (a B&W kinescope of it, anyway), is available on DVD, and it's shown on PBS (in fact, it was just on, a couple of nights ago). So, why haven't you seen it?
Lesley Ann Warren without a doubt!
