"BRITISH actor Sir Ian McKellen is supporting aggressive tactics in the gay-marriage fight. In an interview on IMRU Radio in LA, McKellen said: "We're . . . discovering who the enemy are, and I do think we do have an enemy. It means that everyone's got to go on fighting. And in what way you fight, well, it depends who you are . . . You can write a letter, you can talk about it to your congressperson . . . you can talk to people in bars . . . Or you can go on marches, or you can go and break windows."

I was recently invited a an event to meet him. But had to decline. I was beyond disappointed.
(He is in 'The Prisoner' on AMC)

I have long admired the man and his craft.

Seeing his Salieri in AMADEUS changed not only my view of art, but of myself.

And I DID get to meet him, but was too new at the game to realize he probably REALLY would have jumped my bones (at that point, they were 18 years old, and wrapped in an as-yet-undeteriorated shell.)

Oh, well - I choose to accept that I'm happy today because I'm not one of his cast-offs.

BUT, if I had it to do over again . . .

I can still vividly see him performing A KNIGHT OUT on Broadway, his one-man show created for Gay Games/Stonewall 25 in June 1994 - funny, poignant, moving and empowering.

He said on the Joy Behar how that he gets hit on by younger men from time to time. He is very charming.
