I attend western Washington University, a state college, with about 13,000, not to compettitive, definatly smalled that University of Washington.
Anyway, while my drama mates went off to NYU and Manhattan Marymount, I got jealous
But, by the second week of school I was told I would get to direct a one act play! A freshman, second week and directing a play, (not even for class!)
I know the stress that all you high school seniors are going through, and just want to tell you, if you don't get into a top school, the world is not over, in fact, if you are in a school with a large graduate program, chances are you won't be able to do much until you're a graduate.
Just giving hope to some of you, Just because a school doesn't have the best name, doesn't mean it doesn't have a kickass drama program, my school does and only people in Washington Know it.
So in hopes that you don't ovestress yourselves untill you cry (much like I did) Alot of schools are just names, you can do the same in alot of other places.
Bon Chance, and if anyone is from Washington (the state) consider Western!!!
Wooooo, I'm from Seattle and have a ton of friends who go to Western. The drama program really is excellent.

Thanks for the advice. I just spent hours workign on my applications, and I feel like I got nothing done. That makes me feel a bit better. I've been doing a lot of crying, unfortunately. I think I'll just need to relax.
And also keep in mind that the "fancy schools" sometimes dont have programs as large as you think. I think the amount of BoCo graduates is like 11 and the undergrads are the ones getting all the roles. BoCo has a small program with intimate settings. In all of my classes there are about 12-15 students maybe less, except for Musical Theatre.
My advice: Go on Facebook, search the networks of schools you're interested in and talk to the students. Thats what helped me. The students won't give you all the bull that admissions might. :]
I'm in love with my small state school department. There are about 40some performance majors with maybe 20 tech and a couple theatre lit and some education thrown in. A lot of times I feel that i'm getting exactly the same training for $20,000+ less.
