#25First they come for the homosexuals...

Oh, the rules apply to heterosexual porn. Which makes me wonder what the likes of Republican Jenna "chainsmoker" Jameson will think?

Naturally, like all sex crime related laws, the rules will be applied disproportionately to homosexuals. When was the last time a straight couple was busted on a "lover's lane" and forced to sign onto the sex offender's registry? Oh, right. Never. But two gay guys in a bush will get their lives ruined by the very same laws.

And how about the supposed heterosexuals who fool around with boys? What will happen to them?

ah, namo, you're close. what has me in a bit of a tizzy, rather than this shackling of the porn industry (which doesn't bother me so much as everything post debbie does dallas is pointless and wasteful), is proposed changing of television dcency laws to include cable channels. on this, my boys and girls in chastity belts are overreaching.

on the subject of mr. rove, get ready to see a deluge of every misguided comment from howie, harry, ward churchill, george soros, etc. as the patriotism wars begin anew. brilliant, karl.

On the Karl Rove front, Keith Olberman posted a really insightful essay about it, and one of my favorite episodes of the Twilight Zone, on his blog.

"brilliant, karl."

It's quite obvious that he knows how to wage a war. It really is beneath the Senators to be in a frenzy over what a staff member has said. And yet they took the bait. I didn't think such a transparent attack would work, but it did. If the Dems couldn't see the old "kick out the pedestal" attack , they don't deserve to be in power.

I went on-line last night to survey the wreckage. The internet will only be for theatre if things don't change-- many of my favorite sites were off-line or had posted "we'll be back" notices. I'd heard that all Gay.com adult pictures were off (Can you imagine trying to get all that information about every single guy who decides to post a naked pic?) but when I checked lsat night, they had a notice saying that they were negotiating an agreement. It made no difference- chat & profiles were all down. I don't use Yahoo much any more, but heard that they had shut all their chat rooms too, for fear an underage kid would use them.

What a world! I think I am ready to move from "George Bush, get out of Iraq!" to "George Bush, Get out of my pants!"

FOS11 Statement on Comments Made By Karl Rove

As families whose relatives were victims of the 9/11 terror attacks, we believe it is an outrage that any Democrat, any Republican, any conservative or any liberal, stakes a "high ground" position based upon the September 11th death and destruction. Doing so assumes that all those who died and their loved ones would agree. In truth, some would and some would not. By definition the conduct is divisive and, because it is intended to be self-serving and politicizes 9/11, it is offensive.

We are calling on Karl Rove to resist his temptations and stop trying to reap political gain in the tragic misfortune of others. His comments are not welcome.

Families of September 11 is a non-partisan nonprofit organization founded by the relatives of those who died in the attacks of September 11, 2001. For further information, please visit our website at www.familiesofseptember11.org.

hmmm - does the phrase "smug and arrogant" apply here?

A White House official said Friday the administration finds it "somewhat puzzling" that Democrats are demanding presidential adviser Karl Rove's apology or resignation for implying that liberals are soft on terrorism.

"I think Karl was very specific, very accurate, in who he was pointing out," communications director Dan Bartlett said. "It's touched a chord with these Democrats. I'm not sure why."

GRRRRRRR......

The Dems were "Durbin baited" and took the bait.

I think he'll be out of the White House by Labor Day--mostly because his hate-mongering tactics are now failing with the American people.

Well, why don't we discuss the comments Rove made:

Do you think that Hillary Clinton, Chuck Schumer, and Rudy Guiliani--all liberals--offered "therapy and understanding for our attackers"?

Do you think that most liberal Americans did so after the attacks? Such as jrb_actor?

Do you think that given that the attacks only happened in blue states, that the blue state liberals of those 3 states (I incl DC as a state for this topic) offered "therapy and understanding for our attackers"?

I'm just curious.

#44it worked, brilliantly

A few days later, Karl stands firm, the White House backs him, the 'Publicans in congress back him, and Karl's playing to the most rabid element in the Bush Base has masterfully deflected attention away from myriad crises, including Friday's devastating deaths of female marines in a city we "conquered" -- Fallujah. All the weekend talk shows -- McLaughlin and Company, even Fox's Media Watch -- stayed on old bold Karl and found his remarks less incendiary than Durbin. Never mind that the 9/11 card is low--and accepted as low. (Did anyone notice that Fox opted not to show Karl speaking --but instead played an endless loop of smoldering ground zero???) This is what they do, brilliantly. It has yet to backfire in a big way, and that is the saddest comment on the state of the country.

It doesn't surprise me in the least. And it only shows just how low Rove is having to stoop.

And, I'm also not surprised that our conservative loud mouths on BWW have yet to answer my questions.
