He's toast.

The Democrats will force the White Hose to make him retract, after which the Republicans will turn on him and feast on his pasty-evil flesh, taking out all their anger at the way they've been losing ground.

He'll go from Golden Boy to Pariah in a record-setting 8 months!

Democrats Demand Retraction From Rove

By JIM ABRAMS, Associated Press Writer1 hour, 56 minutes ago

Democrats are demanding that White House adviser Karl Rove immediately retract and apologize for comments that liberals responded to the Sept. 11 terrorist strikes by wanting to "prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers."

"The one thing New York has had since Sept. 11 is unity," said Sen. Charles Schumer (news, bio, voting record), D-N.Y. "To inject politics into this and to defame a large number of people" is outrageous, he said. "It's not what New York and America is all about."

Rove, Bush's chief political adviser, said in a speech Wednesday that "liberals saw the savagery of the 9/11 attacks and wanted to prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers." Conservatives, he said in the speech to the New York state Conservative Party just a few miles north of Ground Zero, "saw the savagery of 9/11 and the attacks and prepared for war."

Rove said the Democratic Party made the mistake of calling for "moderation and restraint" after the terrorist attacks.

Schumer said Democrats were drafting a letter asking Rove to retract his remarks. Jim Manley, spokesman for Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., also called on President Bush to "immediately repudiate Karl Rove's offensive and outrageous comments."

Three days after the terrorist attacks, the Senate voted 98-0 and the House voted 420-1 for a resolution authorizing Bush to use "all necessary and appropriate force" against those responsible for the terrorism. After the votes, Bush said in a statement: "I am gratified that the Congress has united so powerfully by taking this action. It sends a clear message — our people are together, and we will prevail."

On Wednesday, Rove also denounced Sen. Dick Durbin's comments comparing interrogation at the Guantanamo Bay prison camp to the methods of Nazis and other repressive regimes. He said the statements have been broadcast throughout the Middle East, putting U.S. troops in greater danger. The Illinois Democrat has since apologized for the remarks.

"No more needs to be said about the motives of liberals," Rove said.

i seem to remember that this statement was meant to prevent our citizens from going after innocent Arab-American citizens here in the US...

Bush's Approval Ratings are rock bottom.....

It's time for the White House to start pointing fingers.

I have lost all respect for the current occupant of the White and his cronies.

I do wish Rove would be toast, but we all know that the administration is going to come up with some lame*duck* excuse and make more than half the country believe that democrats are evil and un-American.

"The White House defended Rove's remarks and accused Democrats of engaging in partisan attacks. Rove, said spokesman Scott McClellan, 'was talking about the different philosophies and our different approaches when it comes to winning the war on terrorism.'"

HUH?!

Let me get this straight...the Democrats are engaging in partisan attacks?!?!

Poor Karl Rove....he's so maligned!

That's the way of it.
Republicans: "Democrats are treasonous terrorists!"
Democrats: "Uh, that's pretty ugly. You should apologize."
Republicans: "Stop attacking us! We're merely pointing out our different philosophies. Besides, Jesus hates fags and flag burners."

Dems Say Rove Should Apologize or Resign

By JIM ABRAMS, Associated Press WriterThu Jun 23,12:18 PM ET

White House adviser Karl Rove should either apologize or resign for saying liberals responded to the Sept. 11 terrorist strikes by wanting to "prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers," Democrats said Thursday.

Adding to the rancor, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., suggested that Republican charges that Democrats were undermining the war on terror with their criticism of administration policies amounted to an act of desperation.

"The president wanted to go to Iraq in the worst possible way and he did," Pelosi said. "The president is on the ropes."

Rove, Bush's chief political adviser, said in a speech Wednesday that "liberals saw the savagery of the 9/11 attacks and wanted to prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers." Conservatives, he told the New York state Conservative Party just a few miles north of Ground Zero, "saw the savagery of 9/11 and the attacks and prepared for war."

Rove said the Democratic Party made the mistake of calling for "moderation and restraint" after the terrorist attacks.

Democrats were quick to respond — and in growing numbers.

"Karl Rove should immediately and fully apologize for his remarks or he should resign," Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said in a statement. "I hope the president will join me in repudiating these remarks."

Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean called on Bush to "show some leadership and unequivocally repudiate Rove's divisive and damaging political rhetoric."

During a Senate hearing on Iraq in which Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld and other military leaders testified, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y., read Rove's statement and urged them to reject the remarks.

"I would hope that you and other members of the administration would immediately repudiate such an insulting comment from a high-ranking official in the president's inner circle," Clinton said.

Earlier in the day, Sen. Charles Schumer (news, bio, voting record), D-N.Y., said New York has had unity since Sept. 11. "To inject politics into this and to defame a large number of people" is outrageous, he said. "It's not what New York and America is all about."

Sen. Frank Lautenberg (news, bio, voting record), D-N.J., said nearly 3,000 Americans died on Sept. 11 and "we should not dishonor their memory by using that tragic day for political trash talk."

During the 2004 campaign, Bush dismissed the notion of negotiating with terrorists and said, "You can't sit back and hope that somehow therapy will work and they will change their ways."

Seven House Republicans also wrote Pelosi saying they were shocked by a statement in which she said the war in Afghanistan was over. "Messages like yours could demoralize our troops and undermine our efforts to fight terrorism in Afghanistan and around the world," they wrote.

Pelosi, who made the comment at a news conference where Democrats called for an investigation into detainee abuses at Guantanamo Bay, said Thursday that she was referring to the campaign to drive the Taliban from power in 2001. Fighting continues, she said, because the administration decided to divert its attention from Afghanistan to the war in Iraq.

Oh how I wish PJ-- but you know how the "Liberal Media" is in this country: Dick Durbin gets hammered 24/7 across the spectrum for saying that a great country like America should not be running prison camps that look more like Nazi Germany or Cambodia and backs it up by reading a report from the FBI. Eventually he's forced to tearfully beg for mercy on the floor of the Senate, due to the incessant press coverage.

"Karl Rove calls Democrats traitors and questions their patriotism" will get cursory mention on the evening news and cause a furor on the liberal blogs, but I can garuntee there will be no mention of it on any of the top rated cable networks and the entire tempest will be done by this time tomorrow. This will NOT be the issue on the Sunday talkfests. It will be done by then. Take it to the bank.

Damn this "Liberal Media."

Not me Papa. Rove will not back down and if anything, his power and position will only increase.

Frankly, I'd like to see Howard Dean toe-to-toe with Karl on one of the morning shows and have Dean rip into him like a chicken on a June Bug. I'd frankly like to see Dean go full-on nutso, screaming, hollering obscenities and over turning desks, something along the lines of:

"How DARE you insult my patriotism, you right-wing B*st*rd! People died on 9/11 and you are standing on their graves smearing their memory for political gain, you worthless piece of sh*t. We WILL not have any discussion until you look me in the eye and apologize for these outrageous remarks! I am waiting! You apologize or I'm coming over there an punch you right in the nose, you worthless scumbag!"

I think that as long as Democrats respond to this crap with reason and measured words, we lose. We have to stop it, stop it dead in it's tracks and say "I'm mad as hell and I am NOT going toake it any more!"

Poor Karl's geek with a vendetta, Carrie-at-the-prom MO is proof that it's critical to teach our children to respect everyone, or they will turn, viciously, and dedicate their adult lives to revenge.

The tall stud in a tie-dyed shirt and sandles who either bitch-slapped little Karl in the cafeteria line, or just told him to chill out at Woodstock, should be hunted down and made to pay for what he unleashed on the free world.

Why the country is letting Rove, Bush and the rest of his corrupt, sleazy administration get away with what they are doing amazes me. And why some Republicans aren't taking a stand scares me.
