They are both selfish idiots. I hate Kate but Jon doesn't get a pass either.
"I also never heard him say bad things about Kate in front of them..."
No. Only on camera in front of millions of people, preserved forever for his children to view later on. They are both awful.

Right, I haven't tuned into the show since. TLC should just cancel it. I'd laugh at that because then Kate will have to try harder for attention.
And yes, I did notice Kate being very abusive to Jon. He always came off seeming kind of stupid, but someone has to be calm if Kate is so demanding and obsessive about things. I thought she got very out of line in the episode where they went to the Crayola Factory and she made him sit with Maddy and then got mad when he allowed her to get up again. Now, that kid I can see getting in trouble in years to come for attention.

Posted: 9/16/09 at 10:28amPoint taken blueroses! I was only thinking about the show- not the interviews and I was thinking more about what was said directly to the kids but I definitely see your point! I think Jon tried to stay calm for the "sake of the kids" but he could only take so much! Personally, I think Kate went through a far more drastic change than Jon throughout the years on the show. He just blew up and apparantly didn't have a PR person on his side. I hope a good PR person steps up to the plate to help him!

Poll time: is Kate's bitchiness > or < Jon's douche-iness?
Persnally, if I had 8 kids, and were being paid hundreds of thousands of dollars by a TV show, I'd actually SPEND TIME WITH THE KIDS rather than use the money for vacations without he family, shopping sprees, etc.

Posted: 9/16/09 at 1:09pmYou should have seen Kate on the episode where they were redoing the kitchen. They were sitting there discussing what they wanted with the sales reps and Jon suggested an under the counter fridge. Kate looked at him and said "What planet are you from?" in her rude tone. Then one of the sales reps spoke up that a lot of people with small children have the under the counter fridge. I loved that she got called out for her behavior for once. I thought it was a great idea - you could put the kids sips and snacks in there so they could get them without disturbing anything they shouldn't be touching. I'd love to have an extra fridge lol

regarding Jon's Poll question:
Jon's douche-ness is a reaction to Kate's bitchiness. He was an abused spouse for 10 years, under her thumb, verbally and emotionally abused (if you think this isn't true, reverse the genders here and then decide).
He escaped, realized he was free, and his extreme douche-ness is now coming to the foreground. He may have been an ass before he married Kate, but he was unable to show it for 10 years. Now that he's free...all bets are off.
Both are equal in their displays of irresponsible behavior, selfishness, and greed.

Posted: 9/16/09 at 1:33pmI've only caught this one and off over the years, but I do think he appeared less douchey early on.

I agree as well. I wish TLC would show the episode of Kate on "Say Yes to the Dress." There she was buying a wedding dress to renew their vows. Kleinfeld is not exactly a cheap store. But, Kate was kind of nasty with the sales consultants, and she didn't seem excited or happy. I don't remember when that episode was from. But, it made me wonder why she was going through with it.

Posted: 9/16/09 at 2:00pmYeah Marianne- it was probably killing her because no one from Kate's family was at the renewal- only Jon's. It wasn't all about her that time! She couldn't pass up a free trip though! I have stated this before- that renewal ceremony was the most awkward thing! I have seen kids at Bar Mitzvah's dancing closer than they were and she had to tell Jon to give her a kiss at the reception- probably for the cameras! For a couple who had been married- actually 9 years at that time, to me- there was no sincerity or real love shown between that couple- of course- now we know why! p.s. Marianne- I saw a spoof of Toddlers and Tiaras done by Miranda Sings on you tube! It was so funny! It may have been on her psychosoprano channel but look it up!

Posted: 9/16/09 at 2:02pmI love Say Yes to the Dress! That one saleswoman with the big mole on her face freaks me out though.

I'll have to look up that video later.
Yeah, I don't like all of the consultants on "Say Yes to the Dress." I like Sarah though. Maybe because she reminds me of Sara Ramirez a bit. LOL!
Wow, and in one post I have come to the realization that I watch and know too many of the programs on TLC, and I don't sit and watch it 24/7. There are a couple I do watch all the time, but others are just if nothing else is on.

Posted: 9/16/09 at 11:29pmThanks doodle- I didn't have the time when I posted it earlier! By the way, I just saw a video of Jon taking the family dogs away from the home. He said that Kate wasn't taking care of them. I believe all of us BWW posters called that one as soon as they got those dogs. Also, I saw Kate Major on Showbiz Tonight and they said she is finally coming clean- really? To whom? She came clean to E a couple of weeks ago. Personally, I feel she is working for Kate now! It's amazing how quickly the tables have turned and it's amazing how so much negative poblicity is now surrounding him while Kate is on a media blitz! PUHLEEZE! The Insider is doing a poll to ask if Jon is a fit father- really- how is the public supposed to judge this? Are they basing it on tabloid stories or how he is on his show. He has always come across as a good father to his kids on the show. Please- just make this all start! I wish I was a lawyer so that I could defend him!

I saw the news coverage of this online this morning. I love how despite Jon clearly stating what we all know as true (she refuses to care for the dogs), the Kate fan commenters are still rabidly anti Jon, calling HIM the loser for returning the dogs. And of course, the Kate fans must have missed all the video footage of her obvious distaste for these poor dogs over the last year.
I think this may be the first responsible thing I've seen Jon do since seperating from Kate. The dogs have been saved...now for the kids!

Posted: 9/17/09 at 1:31pmExactly justme! Also, I think the only reason they kept Kate around as co-host for the Friday show was because Kathy Griffin was booked and they wanted her to bring up Kathy's spoof of hers. (just like they brought on Dr. Phil because he had a Kate connection) I wish Kathy would have walked off because LaToya was supposed to be the co-host- but of course, Kathy stayed and I bet she has to kiss up to Kate. Then she will talk about it on her next special and give us the real scoop! Also, the only reason they are talking about Kate doing a show with Paula Deen is because they need someone over-the-top lovable to make Kate look less ice-queen. Still, that whole idea uterrly disgusts me!

Posted: 9/17/09 at 3:15pmI guess the debate in this thread clearly answers why Kate has been given a 16th minute. This couple seems to invite and inspire analysis and discussion. A Rorschach test of sorts?

During the most tumultuous time in their young lives, the kids have to lose their dogs now, too?
Team John. Team Kate. Pffft. How about Team Kids?

Posted: 9/18/09 at 3:58pmI didn't even know they had dogs. But, as someone who volunteers for an animal shelter, good for Jon. I hope those dogs find a much better home with people who really care about them. I'm sure the kids loved them, but there is only so much they can do themselves.

Posted: 9/18/09 at 5:48pmEris- did you see all the negative responses on that link! I agree with someone who said Marie Osmond would be a better co-host. She too has 8 kids, is divorced, and she is famous for actually having talent! She's also funny and warm!
