I adore Kate Winslet, and I agree that she is truly the greatest actress of her generation. Her performances glow because she approaches them with such honesty, vulnerability and openness.
Reading about her story, I'm really thankful that Peter Jackson and his partner Fran Walsh gave Kate Winslet her first break in 1994's HEAVENLY CREATURES. Kate was an unknown then, but Jackson and Walsh found her audition so luminating that they cast her in the very difficult starring role of a teenage murderess. Her weight wasn't an issue. It was her captivating performance in this movie that paved the way for other character-driven films.

By the way, just to share...
a few days ago I played a pantomime-portrayal of Hecuba in my English class where my teacher and other students told me that they were "blown away."
And, I played Ophelia in one scene today! It was so much fun. I hope I did it justice, and my teacher told me it was "lovely and real and that (I) bring so much honesty to the role." EEEEK :)
What does that have to do with Kate Winslet...
