Kate Winslet!

Hi all!

Yes I went to ANOTHER Q&A and this time it was for Kate Winslet. Now Kate has been one of my idols for 10 years now and I have looked up to her in SO many ways that this evening was truely a dream come true for me.

First we saw "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" Which I have seen a few times and OWN it but it was ok to re see it in the theater. THEN she came out, she came down the aisle (we were at a cute little movie theater here in LA and she walked down to the front <---where we were down the aisle) and as she walked past me I couldn't get over how little she was, I am 5'2 and she is not much taller than me at all! AND she looked AMAZING! Wearing NO makeup (which I love cause I don't wear it either, unless I have to) and jeans (the same ones I had on :) ) and a black t-shirt and a sweater, very casual and relaxed. She sat down and talked a bit about the film and then started to answer questions, Once again my niece was one of the first ones to get her question answered and this is where it got amazing. My niece said "I am 16, what advice would you give me on acting" and she at first started to talk to the audience and say, "Stick with it, love what you are doing and NEVER give up" and then she looked straight at my niece and said "Let me tell you, when I was young all my teachers told me if I was going to act I could only play the fat roles, the fat girlfriend, the fat roommate (at this point she started to get teary) and it took all I could to NOT listen to them and do what I knew I wanted to do with my life, SO if what you want to do is act, if that is what is in your heart, you do it! NEVER give up, no matter what anyone says! And you WILL suceed" It was so heartfelt and meaningful.

Then the questions were done and since we were in the front as usual, my niece caught her on her way out and asked for a picture and she said "Of course" and then I asked for one and as I was walking twards her I started blurting out how she has been my insaration for many years and she grabbed me and hugged me SO tight and that is when the tears started to come and then she looked at me and hugged me again and I told her what she told my niece was SO amazing and she said NEVER let her forget and I told her I won't DONT worry! and WE then took a photo and expressed our thanks for being such an amazing person, and that we hoped to work with her someday and she said, it WILL happen!

It's SO late and I have to get up so early and all I can think about is how special this night was and how it seriouslly was a dream come true and I don't know how I am going to actually sleep.

SHE IS AMAZING! I love her so much! THANK YOU KATE!

No problem everyone! I am SO happy that you guys enjoy my adventures because they mean SO much to me and the fact that you can enjoy them makes it even better!

Yes, when I get the photos back I will post them. BUt they are on a roll of 36 and I didn't use the digital cause I couldn't get it fast enough!

I couldn't believe that I cried when she hugged me! But she said it was a compliment and hugged me more so I guess it was ok!

She's great! She's got a really witty sense of humor. I was at a lunch "meeting" with her recently and we were talking about the Oscars, this is her 4th nomination, and she was really very humbled by it.
She did a fierce job on Sunshine and I think it's a compliment to her choice of work that she is so successful. Not to mention she's not afraid to tell people to piss off when they called her fat. Her role model as a woman is to me, far greater than that as an actress (and she said she was very excited about Kirstie Alley's new show) which I found hysterical.

Spooky, her wit is crazy funny, I think she said the "F" word about 100 times and then she told us all some really funny stories that had me laughing so hard! You must live in LA cause she has been here for a while! I hope to get to talk to her again and be one on one so I can really talk to her, ya know what I mean? And yes she is very humbled about her nomination!

She's a great actress, and a terrific person. I doubt that she'll win the Oscar this time around, but here's hoping she wins for "A Doll's House".

I was anticipating a great story from you, LA. Kate is my favorite actress and you definitely didn't disappoint. This story exceeded my expectations. She is truly amazing. That story is really inspiring. Thank you!

I am an actress and a part of SAG and SAG has a foundation that screens films and has the main actors come in to do Q&A's with the fellow actors in the guild. I have been going to these things for a while now and really this past week has had the most impact on me. Between Hilary Swank, Kristin Cheoweth and now my idol, Kate Winslet it was a week to be remembered forever and I have photos to always look back on too. Sometimes they have the actor come into a room called the James Cagney Room where they just do a straight Q&A for 2 hours and it's filmed and then you get an extra hour to talk to them personally and take photos, that is where I saw Kristin, and I am preying that Kate goes there too!

I adore her! Such an inspiration!

I am so ecstaticly thrilled for "A Doll's House." It's one of my fave's! She'll be amazing, i'm sure.

Currently, we are watching parts of Brannagh's (sp?) version of Hamlet with her and she blows me away w/ her performance! Next class I will be acting out her part! YAYYY! i'm so thrilled. i really should prepare for it, actually. i don't want to look like a fool.

That's a great story. I think Kate will go down as the actress of our generation and I'm glad she's as good a person as she is an actress.
