Today is Katie's last on TODAY.
Post your salutations here.
Perky, adventurous, irrepressible and yes sometimes bad clothes and hair, she will be missed.
I'm watching and I think they're doing a great retrospective.
I like her, I'll miss her.
...and I agree they're doing a great job.
Does she really like musicals? ...like a lot?
Katie is simply adorable! She will be so very missed.
But just think, it could be a LOT worse: we could be losing our Matt! *gasp*
The BOYS were amazing!!
"Bye bye, Katie, goodbye! Bye bye, Katie, don't make me cry!"
I set my VCR to tape the last hour.

I am a fan and have enjoyed her over the years. It is a morning ritual in the brd house!
Some clips of the broadcast can already be seen on msnbc.com.
She is my favorite tv personality (except for Oprah of course)
She will be missed. Such a smart and spunky woman.
I love her.
She even plugged MARC Shaiman.
She should. He wrote the song.
Our fingerprints don't fade from the lives we touch.
Puppies are babies in fur coats.
Tinfoil...The Terrorizing Terminator
Marc posted the lyrics on the main board
How wonderful. I love Shaiman and Wittman.
Hearing Harvey this morning was about as much excitement as I needed for the week.
Now, I need to go.

i was trying to watch, but ten minute commercials are too much for me to take.

I used to watch that show all the time. And then, one day about two and a half years ago, I simply Had Enough. I'd reached my quotient or something.
I could no longer stand Al, who went from being funny and sarcastic when he was fat, to exuding some sort of "cool" factor that seemed totally unearned, after his surgery. I could no longer take Ann's strange emPHASis when trying to do a hard hitting interview with softball interviewees, "Why did you decide to make a MOVIE about a superhero NOW at this point in your CAREER?". Matt, who was gorgeous when he was younger and endearing when he was the new guy, morphed into a golf playing idiot the likes of which cut you off in their giant SUVs while yammering on their cell phones. And Katie, well, I actually always dug how the facade of her niceness cracked and revealed the terror bitch she was well known to be behind the scenes, but even that was no longer enough to get me to turn on the show.
Having said that, I watched the last hour of the show. People REALLY change in two years! Both Katie and Matt have really aged, a lot. And Joan Rivers and Jonathan Antin, I mean, THIS is who they get for the tributes? Yeeesh.
Having said that, I loved the Shaiman lyrics and the performances and Harvey's croaks. That made it worth watching. But as for the emotions, I felt, to quote Chorus Line, nothing. Except cringe worthy embarassment when Ann bent down to kiss Katie as Katie moved away towards the camera.

She should have stayed on "Today". Barbara Walters she ain't. She is not going to make it as a news anchor. Will America trust Katie Couric to deliver hard news? I don't think so. Charles Gibson is going to benefit from this move. After she flops as a news anchor, Katie will be hoping to get a gig on the TV Guide Channel. Maybe she could do a talk show with Joan Lunden, Jane Pauley, Jenny Jones, Sally Jesse Rafael, Rikki Lake, Tony Danza......

I don't think America cares about hard news. Not enough Americans to matter, anyway. Which is why CBS may be onto something by plugging Katie in there, because, like, she probably knows Britney and stuff! And she's totally interviewed Angelina, right?

Goodbye Katie we will all miss you.

If you're a fiction writer, you might have to get used to people critiquing your output. As Ms. Couric must expect.
"Like you could do her job..." has nothing to do with my critical faculties that I put to use in evaluating her job performance or that of her colleagues. Though I know how it flies on the seventh grade playground.
That's a scary picture.
I'm very capable of people critiquing my work. It's been happening for years.

Then you see and concede my point. Fabulous!

From today's San Francisco Chronicle:
"Today was Katie Couric's final appearance on the "Today" show before heading to "The CBS Evening News." Some people think this is a big deal. But for us, it only means this: Now we'll vomit at night instead of in the morning.".

Yeah, I read that this morning and had to agree with their assesment.
Am I the only one who thinks that Katie Couric and Renee Fleming look A LOT alike? Maybe it's the haircut...
