Kelly Clarkson's "My December" CD Release Party

Her new album comes out today, and I just listened to it all the way through and I have to say it is REALLY good. I will admit up front that it doesn't have the same poppy, fun as her last cd, but that does not take away from how good this cd is. It has a very "Jagged Little Pill" feel to it and it shows how Kelly has grown as an artist and personally, I think it is her best so far and WAY better than any other Idol album.

I hope this does well, but it is disheartening that she cant even sell out Jones Beach. She's so talented, and I love the new stuff.

I really hope it does well... although my hopes aren't too high after all the bad press she's gotten regarding the Clive Davis/manager/tour fiascos. All the best to her, though!

In the NY Times review, though the disc got a mediocre review, they side with Kelly on the dispute and thought it wouldnt hurt her sales.
They felt the change of style would hurt sales, however...they did love her vocals.

I love Kelly, and I really hope this album does well, considering how hard she fought for it. Even if it isn't a smash, there's still something to be said for artistic integrity (and who knew I'd be saying that about a former American Idol winner?).

I really like this album. As far as it not having a pop sound.. I agree. But wait till the remixes come out.

Just finished listening to the whole thing. It is easily the best artistic album Kelly has put out. I hope it finds an audience.

"Sober" seems like sort of a bad choice for a second single. It's pretty enough, but...I don't know. I'm not crazy about the lyrics. "One Minute" or "How I Feel" could be fairly strong singles later on.

She DID sell out Jones Beach. Twice. Last summer. This tour, she was going to go to Nassua Colesium; that's what didn't sell out.

This is easily the best album she's put out yet, and I think in the long run, it will be the most successful of her first three, even if it takes a long time to catch on. All the negativity regarding Clive Davis could actually positive because it shows that she's really willing to take some big risks to keep her artistic integrity. Whether or not this is the best album around, I think she deserves a lot of credit for sticking up for what she believes in (Supposedly she turned down $10 million from Clive, who offered to give her the sum if she would take half the songs off the album and replace them with more "radio-friendly" tunes).

I got this album a couple of days ago, and I have to say that for me, it is pretty hit or miss. Some songs I absolutely love (Sober, Haunted, Never Again) and others I really dislike. It's different than Breakaway in the sense that I enjoyed all of the songs (except for "Walk Away",) but didn't love any. Still, I hope album sales pick up.
