This is great. Zola, you are wonderful and you really know your stuff. And Papa, though I may not agree with you I certainly applaud you for searching on topics before you vote, all of us should. I am printing this entire post out and giving it to my political science teacher tomorrow, thanks for a great lesson plan

because they were unsuccessful in completely removing my heart and conscience, i feel compelled to say once more for the cheap seats...

zola was right and i was wrong

whatever his other flaws, and i count them legion, john kerry has a commendable record on aids issues and should be applauded for his work in that area. my attack was based on flawed research and ignorance of the record, and more than a little "by god i'm right and i'll prove it if i have to abandon every position i hold dear!"

mea culpa.

WOW...what a thread....I never thought I would see the day!

Thank you, Papa. That's big of you.

But you've been equally wrong on other issues, using the same "flawed research" and "ignorance of the record" to make similar "right-at-all-costs" points.

Perhaps if you really start examining the lies being told by Bush and Co, you'll see that Kerry clearly will be a better president.

Yikes....I'll just accept it for this one issue, this time. Wish we had such experts on all the other issues too

Move on, people.

Stop worrying about what I'm doing -- focus instead on what you're eating.

Thank you Zola. You educated us all, I'm sure. Not just about this issue, but about the importance of knowing the "back story" to many of the claims being made...by both sides. Unfortunately it takes a LOT of time to find the whole stories, if we haven't lived them, as you have, and most of us aren't prepared to do it. We think an internet search will serve us, and clearly it won't always. (And I have done exactly the same thing as Papa has.)

I'm glad you were there, and I'm glad I know the whole story on this particular part of this issue. And I DO wish I knew people who had been as closely involved in other issues, to give the real story of how and why things were done the way they were.
