re: Kerry's 11 Positions on the War in Iraq

The Communist Party has decided not to run a candidate, but to throw their support behind Kerry. They are getting in line to receive their share of the United States that Kerry plans to give away.
If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

I think it's cute on the Communist site that they have the two "R"'s in Kerry backwards on the Communist shield.

re: Kerry's 11 Positions on the War in Iraq

I want to ask a question in all honesty. Kerry was trying to trash Bush in the first debate and he said something about "They had to close down the subway system in NYC during RNC for security reasons." I live in NYC and I don't remember it being shut down. Can anyone tell me what that was about?

re: Kerry's 11 Positions on the War in Iraq

I love my 'commies for Kerry.' re: Kerry's 11 Positions on the War in Iraq

Thanks for the list, CKeaton! But I can't believe you unless I have proof. I'll give you my address, I want a tape recording of John Kerry himself telling me that he did vote and feel that way. And no hedging.

And Gotham, I could have sworn that a friend of mine who lives in the city was definitely telling me about something that happened on the subway- that was during RNC time. I can't be too sure. I remember that my sister just looked at the screen after the comment and said "Uh...so?"

I figures that the liberals would cry about the subway during the RNC.

Anyone who has any sense knows that if the President is in town, there's going to be disruption of traffic, etc.

re: Kerry's 11 Positions on the War in Iraq

BTW, I don't know if it's a regular Republican sentiment, but a couple of friends and I had a discussion today and concluded that we would rather have Dick Cheney be our grandfather than John Edwards. I mean, come on!

(someone said Donald Rumsfeld...I wasn't able to get a good explanation out of her for that one!)

It sounds weird, but we were discussing who was more 'likeable' in both parties and ended up connecting them to family members.

Being Called Liberal is a Sincere Compliment

"A conservative government is an organized hypocrisy." Benjamin Disraeli

"A conservative is a man who is too cowardly to fight, and too fat to run." Elbert Hubbard

"A conservative is a man who sits and thinks. Mostly sits." Woodrow Wilson
"One no longer loves one's insight enough once one communicates it."

The opposite of creation isn't war, it's stagnation.

Being Called Liberal is a Sincere Compliment

"A liberal is a man (excuse me, person) who talks...and...well, just talks."

(Okay, so I'm not WW!!)

i wonder if having a name with alliteration would help you in a run for office.

It's fun to say: Woodrow Wilson. Ronald Reagan.

Rodney--I haven't served. I am only 16.

NOTE: But my uncle did die in Vietnam. He, as many have done in Iraq, died for a mistake.

Your insensitivity does the term justice.

Priest doll, throttle it back.

Before you call Vietnam and Iraq a mistake - and spit on the graves of those who fought and bravely made the ultimate sacrifice for their country, I would like to do a little exercise with you:

*close your eyes* (figuratively)
You are a baker in Baghdad 6 years ago. One of Saddam's servants shuffled into your store to buy some of your product. You sold him the bread. A day later your wife and kids are pulled from their beds, and hung by their wrists. Your sons testicles are sliced off slowly, and your wife is gang-raped. They are then beaten, burned alive, and thrown in a mass grave. Why? Because your bread was stale. Now you are an angry and bitter man. You have nothing to live for, so you turn your resentment to one of the only groups that will take you in. All they ask is that you strap this backpack to your chest, and ride a bus in Israel. Then all of your suffering will be over, and you have a chance to see your wife and son... in paradise.

It's a mistake to allow this type of slaughter to take place boldly in the face of the world. There was proven genocide and major human rights violation.

Once upon a time there was another crazy dictator who had no problem killing his countrymen. His name was Hitler. Was standing up to Hitler a mistake? Perhaps you would have said so, if you had been alive back then. War isn't easy, but it is often necessary to preserve humanity in the long run.

And PS... Didn't Hubbard drown in the first class lounge of a famous luxury cruise ship? What a man of the people, a true liberal.

Avenue Q was right, Vote your heart. (If you've got one)

I have seen that site, and the "douchebag" one too. It is very true that people shouldn't vote for someone just because they like the person. They should vote for someone who aligns with the majority of their beliefs. (I'd like to stress "majority".) I just hope that the people that produce these sites believe in the issues, and not because of like or dislike of the individuals involved.

It's easy to fall into the trap. I don't dislike Kerry. I "sort of" like Bush. I just think that a second Bush term would net in larger gains for our country in the long run.

Keats, why is Kerry's "flip flopping" somehow more morally reprehensible than Bush's? Think of the flip flops over the reasons for invading Iraq. Think of the flip flops over the 9/11 Commission.

And Mimey, I know you're not the most erudite person on this board, but could you please enlighten us as to in what ways exactly, "Kerry is also a self-admitted WAR CRIMINAL?" And remember, you're treading on thin ice backing an AWOL National Guardsman whose people stole the election for him last time.

And finally Keats, if Robert S. McNamara, at long last, could finally admit that Vietnam was a mistake, then you had best believe that it was a mistake. And thank god that people spoke out about that, brave people, because it would have continued down the same disasterous path that Iraq is headed, even McNamara made the comparison.

But hey, it must give you great comfort to know that PrincessNotTheBrightestBulb thinks you're all "fighting the good fight," fellow travellers that you are.

It kills me that people still think that to disagree with the cause of a war is to "spit on the graves" of those who fight in it. Remember, our country was founded on the idea that if you are not happy with the way your government is being run, you are free to overturn it. This applies here. If the people disagree with a war, considering the fact that the PEOPLE are the ones who have to fight the war, then OF COURSE we have the right to stand up and say that we feel it is wrong, that we feel that it is a mistake. That is what democracy is (supposed to be) all about.

And like FindingNamo said, how the hell can you have the nerve to be so critical of Kerry's service in Veitnam, when your dim-witted leader couldn't be bothered to "bravely make the ultimate sacrifice" for his country, because he was too busy getting drunk and running cars off the road-? One of the things that I cannot get over about that man is his hypocricy. He is the "war President" who was too much of a p*ssy to actually fight in the war, not because he felt like it was wrong, oh no, just because he had an obligation at the time, to be a stupid frat boy. So... let's see, he will send his countrymen off to war, and call himself a "war President", but not take the action himself to actually fight... hmmm... well, if a liberal is a man who "just talks", then maybe Bush shouldn't get to claim to be the "conservative candidate" afterall.
