I think we were led to believe that the island itself is in the future, hence why the people from the boat didn't know that something was wrong with the doctor. Probably because in off-island time, the doctor hasn't died yet.
I just really love the way the show is heading. I found this episode to be really strong, a little too action-packed for my taste perhaps (I sometimes miss the quiet yet incredibly suspenseful Season 1 episodes). But that's what makes this series so great: it's a sci-fi series, an action series, a romance show, a humorous show. It's just so appealing.

did anyone notice Ben's eyes? I sear that they changed color during the past and the future... and in the end scene he never blinks...

I also think the island is somewhat in the future and that the doctor isn't dead on the freighter yet. I think Hurley needs to go with Locke and Ben because he is the only other one who has been able to see Jacob.

Interesting theory about the Black Rock violet. He was, afterall, bidding on the Black Rock painting at the auction. I happened to love all the action in this episode. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. I just loved it.

wickedrentq -- Didn't Smokey come out earlier this year when Locke held Ben captive? I seem to remember thinking that Smokey was acting on its own - that it wasn't a result of Ben doing something...

Where was Ben the first time Eko saw Smokey? I can't remember if that was end of season 2 or start of season 3...

Well, I'm not sure Claire belongs to the island. Although there is HEAVY buzz that she will be dying by the end of the season. As in very very heavy. Perhaps simply because of Kate's flash-forward episode. Or perhaps because there's something to the rumor.
Tonight it's about how the island (who has cured and saved the Losties in the past) will actually damage them. I just figured it'd be Jack because of this new illness he has.

Well, I didn't think that the island would kill him, just that the island caused the actual illness. Obviously, none of the Oceanic Six are dead.

And I already read that at least four of our favorite characters non-Oceanic Six are alive in the future as well.

I bet one of them is Jin. I just don't think he was ever dead, since his gravestone said Sept. 22nd.

Next week we will finally have a Locke-centric episode. I'm still trying to figure out who is in the coffin, but I dont think we will find out for a while.

I read this article (there is a new one every Thursday before a new episode) and it says that the hyrocliphics (spelled that wrong, sorry) on the door that Ben ran through says " To Summon Protection"....interesting...can't wait for tonight and here is the link to the article
