Turns out one of the "two Chicago-are synagogues" news reports keep saying the FedEx packages were aimed at was Congregation Or-Chadash, which describes itself as "the Chicagoland synagogue serving lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender/transsexual Jews, their families, friends and loved ones."

This hits a little to close to home.
If this is the synagogues I think it is, the progressive nature have the more conservative members referring to it at Temple Saint Shalom instead of Beth Shalom.

My father used to call our Reform temple "Our Lady of a Thousand Mitzvahs"...
But why did they target a 100-member gay and lesbian synagogue? How did they even know it was there?

Fundamentalist Islam doesn't like teh gays any more than Fundamentalist Christianity or Fundamentalist Judaism.
But why pick a tiny GLBT synagogue? How did they even know it was there?

What I meant was I imagined a tea partier thinking if it had just been queer jews getting killed in a terrorist attack then maybe Al Quaida ain't all that bad.
I would presume would-be bombers would Google for such info.

I think it is part of a plan to spread fear not just on subways in big cities and well populated areas but to smaller places. That bomb may not have killed hundreds or thousands, but it surely would have put more fear in people that a bomb could be anywhere now. JMO

Me? What did I do?
The Towleroad article said that the synagogue's website had recently been visited 83 times by someone from Cairo, who seems to have apparently developed a sudden and recent interest in GLBT Jewry.

I saw that story. Very interesting.
Of course it's also quite interesting to hear the right-wingers who are saying that the President is attempting to influence the election with this 'trumped up" terrorist scare.
