cyndy - Yes, the cinerama dome is still there. Although it is now part of a large movie theatre complex that is directly behind it. It's called the Arclight Cinema. It's a great place to see movies. They still have occasional premiers at the Cinerama dome.

LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!! I also enojoyed the novel. The pre-Star Wars effects may seem cheesey now, but it was VERY high-tech for its day and won an Oscar for it as well. A remake is listed on imdb as "pre-production" for 2006, but a little more research comfirms a remake for summer 2008 release. No doubt it will be a CGI overloaded dud, but one ca always hope for a miracle. The original is good enough for me any day. The Island is often referred to as the Logan's Run remake, but once the truth about The Island is revealed, it's clear the plot is more deeply rooted in Metropolis. I think Logan's Run was only the inspiration for the exposition to provide a new springboard into the Enslaved vs Elite story.

The first time I saw a preview for "The Island", I almost crapped my pants. I was yelling, "Oh my God!!!! A Logan's Run remake!!!" As the trailer went on, it became clear that it wasn't the same story, so I was quickly dissapointed. Oh well. You're right, the original will do any day.
