A classic, and just an all around cool film. It has some cheezy special effects, but they were cool during that era, and they kind of add to the charm of the film. Classic sci-fi flick. Great idea for a story. There are so many lines I love to quote from that film.
Like-
"It's my job, to freeze you."
"My birds, my birds."
"No, stop. You don't have to die.....you can live.....live!!!!
Carousel is a lie!!!!!"
Anyone else a fan of "Logan's Run"?

Horrid movie, but a great pop corn muncher. Besides my brother looks just like Michael York.

HUGE fan. I did a benefit recently with Michael York, and although I love so much of his work, the thought that kept running through my head was, "Oh my God, I'm on stage with Logan 5!"
I'm sad that Bryan Singer's remake was scuttled.

Me too. I think a remake would be really cool.

Logan's Run is the kind of movie thta is very generational. Late twenty-somthings and up seem to like it best. I watched it when I was a kid. Loved it. It's very nostalgic for me.
"Logan five.........identify."

Fans of the British sitcom "Coupling" will appreciate it when I say...
JENNY AGUTTER! THE VERY ESSENCE OF GRATUITIOUS NUDITY!
I agree, a remake would be great..I saw the film a few years ago for the first time and loved it. If you can get past the cheesy effects, the story is pretty cool.
a remake would be horrible......
this is one of my alltime favorite films......

Notice how Farrah is featured in the poster art.

I never thought I'd live to see LOGAN'S RUN referred to as a "classic." Kind of sad, really.

Nice pictures. I'm glad to see so many other fans. Man, Michael York was fit back then huh? And yes, Jenny Agutter's (the lead girl....right?) nudity was totally gratuitous! On the recent DVD release, Michael York provides commentary. During that scene, he says somehitng like, "OOOHhhhh, Jenny.........I'd forgotten about that part.............well.................there you have it." He was almost embarrassed. Hilarious!
I LOVE this movie! I remember it vividly when it was first in the theatres. I thought the special effects were really COOL back then. And one year later, Star Wars and Close Encounters came out, and changed the look of sci-fi movies forever. But I loved this story, and even the "cheese" factor. I remember people snickering at Farrah even then. Her acting was... shall we say... underdeveloped?
Erika---I would have done the same thing with Michael York! It's a credit to you that you maintained your composure.
If you guys ever watch the DVD, make sure and listen to the commentary track. When you hear how complicated it was to do that carousel scene with live actors and wires and pyro effects... good God! Today it would all be CG, instead of hoisting everyone up in the air like tangled, exploding marionettes. Oh, the law suits! Oh, the humanity!

What happened with Erika and Michael York? Do I sense a good story coming on?
I'm a fan... a classic, though? I'd have to ponder that one.

Depends on your definition of a classic. It's old, and it's an established and pivotal part of sci-fi films of that era. I think that would classify it as a classic. Unless you're definition is different.
I liked it but it depressed me that you had to go to carousel at 30.
I'm a fan! Saw this when it first opened...I think at the Cinerama Dome in Hollywood. Is that theater still there??

Popcultureboy, you're sure the remake's not happening? I was sure I saw it mentioned on AICN recently. Not that you can really trust them, but still.

I watched this in my seventh grade English class after we read The Giver. I thought it was really interesting. Plus, they did a spoof of it on Family Guy, so that's always fun!
I should watch it again though. It always stuck in the back of my mind as a...peculiar film. :P
To be honest, I wonder if it may be better sending us all off to carousel after 30. Just simpler. I saw this film in first run!
Classic?
Hell, YES, it's a classic. Not because of the cheesy SFX, but because of the STORY. Remember stories? This is a great one.
And the fact that it's pre-Star Wars, '70s Sci-Fi film making at its VERY best doesn't hurt either.

best12bars: Thank you so much! Between the Logan 5 and the Tybalt thing, I was quite agog. But I did manage to chat with him a few times without turning into a giggling fan-girl, and he was such a nice man! (And talented! Jeez!)
voztimbrada: best12bars was just referring to the benefit I did with Michael York (and others) that I mentioned in my first post. =)
