It sounds a lot like the demo--not much has changed, unfortunately. It's ok... maybe it just needs to grow on me some more. I think I like Alejandro better.

I think it's a grower, I really wasn't sure upon first listen. The guttural singing and shouting was a bit OTT and truth be told, I preferred how the demo dealt with certain elements.

But, since, it's been on repeat for ages. Definitely a grower and It's definitely an epic pop song.

Really can't wait for her to perform this live. it will be insane.

I don't hear anything particularly "epic", but it does sound like something Madonna or Britney would have released in the last five years, so you can take that however you please.

Yep, that's EXACTLY what it sounds like Mister Matt.

Not epic? Check.

Britney-like? Check.

Madonna-esque? Check.

PUH-LEASE! Britney and Madonna haven't had a tune half as good as the BRIDGE for this song in 5 years.

Where's Namo when I need her?

And this is the most Steinman-esque song (read: EPIC) I've yet heard from the Lady.

I didn't say they had. I listened to Bad Romance twice. I honestly cannot recall what it sounds like other than she has some "muh muh muh"s in it.

Right! If you look past the voice and dissect the elements of the song, you can easily find elements of Madonna and Britney, whether they are just inspiration, accidental or intentional, I do not know. Sort of like the derivative choreography in the Poker Face video. Where did I see that before? Oh, yeah...Vogue.

Poker Face is probably the closest "iconic" song LGG has (which pretty much rests solely on the "Can't read my...can't read my" motif), but I haven't heard anything by LGG that comes close to being epic. I honestly don't know where you get that.

Yes, but Jim Steinman WROTE, PRODUCED and DIRECTED (his credit) those epic songs of Bonnie Tyler, which is why I used the term "Steinman-esque0" earlier in this thread. He w/p/d "Total Eclipse of the Heart", "Holding Out For A Hero", "Ravishing", etc. and he also produced her two biggest albums.

And NO ONE claimed Gaga was the "queen" of epic songs, merely that the song contains epic elements or is, indeed, an epic song... which it is, though apparently someone disagreees.

I think Jimmy would like this song, particularly the Hitchcock references/ double entendres ("I want your PSYCHO, your VERTIGO shtick... seeing you in my REAR WINDOW is sick").

Yes, someone disagrees. Bad Romance is not epic. But hey, I love Jim Steinman and Tanz der Vampire (but not Dance of the Vampires).

Dario Argento! Bay of Blood! Am I forgetting anything?

'Poker Face' is already a classic pop song. Everyone knows it. You can usually tell when a song is going to go down in history when other artists from left, right and centre cover it. It happened with 'Umbrella' and 'I Kissed A Girl'. People love a catchy chorus, and lucky for GaGa she is excellent at writing catchy pop songs.

Emphasis on the fact she WRITES these hits. She's a proper pop artist, everything you see and hear is created by her. That's incredibly rare in the pop industry.

'Bad Romance' won't be her biggest single, but it serves its purpose showing her transition from the early Fame days to now. She's already proved that she's more than a one hit wonder (this is the first week in the UK charts she hasn't had a track in the top 40 in 2009) and this is just solidifying that.

I think it's a good song. It's nothing groundbreaking, but it does the job of being a radio-ready single that clearly references her past hits... which is pretty much exactly what you'd want from the lead single of her album's re-release.

'Dance In The Dark' (another song from 'The Fame Monster') was accidentally released on Irish iTunes early...got a listen, it's also pretty friggin amazing.

So thats now; 'Alejandro', 'Bad Romance' and 'Dance In The Dark' that have been leaked/released/accidentally, out of the new 8 songs.

Probably worth mentioning (not sure if people know or not yet) but she announced on Saturday (on German show, 'Wetten, Daas..?') that she's been fighting with her record label over the cost of re-releasing 'The Fame' with 'The Fame Monster'. Which I can understand, they're having to print two discs with all the packaging when the everyday re-release is just one or two songs chucked on top of the old album.

So, basically, she decided the night before that she'd release 'The Fame Monster' on it's own as a new album, and from what I understand - it'll be half the cost, but if you wish to fork out the extra cash for the double disc re-release, you can.

To be honest, the past couple of weeks have been bloody messy. Her collaboration with Beyonce's video ('Video Phone') was pushed back without warning, her video for 'Bad Romance' was pushed back to tomorrow, now all this business with the album...and of course the fall of the GaGa/Kanye tour.

It may all be connected and have something to do with her label, or it may just be a string of bad luck...either way, I'm really impressed with her new material and I guess thats what's important.

Heard DitD for the first time last night... I LOVE IT! Each new song that pops up gets me even more excited. Bad Romance, Alejandro, and Dance in the Dark are all really phenomenal songs. Can't wait to hear what the rest sound like!

I liked Just Dance before they overplayed it. I tolerate Poker Face and LoveGame. I hate Paparazzi with the fire of a thousand suns and want it to go away forever.

In spite of myself, I love Bad Romance.

I love it. My mind's turning into a big gay rave blasting "Bad Romance" and "Poker Face" at full volume.
I don't WANT to live in what they call "a certain way." In the first place I'd be no good at it and besides that I don't want to be identified with any one class of people. I want to live every whichway, among all kinds---and know them---and understand them---and love them---THAT's what I want! - Philip Barry (Holiday)

I swear I posted about the video tease and Dance in the Dark leak yesterday! I guess it disappeared into BWW's gaping maw. Anyway, I really like Bad Romance, but I love love love Alejandro and Dance in the Dark.
