It's interesting, people's responses to their own gayness. I've never been one to consider it an incidental. And now, since I'm in a relationship, I feel my being gay is a central part of my life. I mean...I wake up every day next to a man. In some ways, living the natural course of my life is a political act. It's something I'm constantly aware of and something I don't take lightly.
People take their heterosexuality lightly because they never really have to think about it. They don't have to consider what it means, it's implications on one's life and what it might do to existing relationships (familial and otherwise).
